Deathsmiles IIX, the sequel to the shoot 'em up game Deathsmiles which was localized last year by Aksys, is availabe on XBox's Games On Demand retail service today for $30.

For that price, you get the Japanese disc-based version of Deathsmiles IIX in digital form. Sadly, this means the game is unlocalized, which is a shame, because the first game had a fun story and multiple character endings. Perhaps at some point a localization patch will be released as DLC. Probably not, but I can hope.

I would get this because of the awesome sounding story, but I heard it wasn't very good. Maybe after a price drop.

The original game is prettier and harder, but this one is still fun. And if you read the whole review, many of the criticisms they have earlier on (no Rosa or Follett, no optional extra stage, no difficulty selector) are criticisms of the arcade version, and those were all fixed in the XBox version.

It is unlocalized. There is some cursory English in the game, but not much.

It's possible they may release an English patch as DLC, but nothing's announced. I really hope they do, cuz there's a lot of text.
