7 is where the music crashed and burned. Most of it is absolutely awful.
Slash Man is pretty good though

I don't agree with you about the music in general. I know and love every piece from this game as with the others. My personal favorite from this one just happens to be Wily 3.

Wily Fortress 1 takes it away.
Mega Man 8, if you ask me, has some decent ambient music (it works very well with the stage), but nothing really stands out as excellent by itself. However, take a listen to this, which is my pick:
It's probably not the Tengu Man's theme you've heard before, it's the one from the Saturn version of Mega Man 8, and the Tengu Man music in that version is completely different. Give it a listen before you decide based upon the happy-peppy version in the PSX game (and if you want to nominate that one, feel free).
Frost Man's music is pretty good, though it gives me JUMP JUMP SLIDE SLIDE nightmares.
And just to fill out the three, here's Grenade Man.
This is a tough one, there's a ton of great music in 8, even if it isn't the typical kind of MM music. I'm going to have to nominate Search Man on this one.
It was a tough choice between this, Astro Man, Frost Man, and Aqua Man.
I'm just lurking around until we get to MM9, which has the best music in the series IMO.

9 and 10 definitley do, but I honestly can't remember a single MM8 song. &Bass had a few good songs too.
