Cancelled... hard.
They didn't even air the final episode, they just put it online.

Which makes zero sense.
It had viewers, just not as many as NBC would like. Here's a crazy little idea: You own a station called SyFy! Move it over! SyFy is used to pulling lower ratings, and that shows was miles better than the craptastic "SyFy Original Movies".

I never understood if a show makes money, why not try putting it online and seeing how it does. Even if it breaks even, it was worth it because people got to work and some viewers got to see what they wanted.

That reminds me of a show about 6 years old called The Invasion, remember that? It was kinda good and it had a huge fan base from what i can remember on ABC and they just cancelled it with no ending at all.

It should be a law, or at least a contract between studio and fans, that if they are going to cancel a series without warning, then they have to give that show a 2-hour movie to wrap things up.
It's better if they give the show enough advance warning, like saying "hey we're not going to renew you", so the show has time to at least slap together a finale. Like what Fox did with Dollhouse. Granted they had to rush the ending, but at least they got one, unlike Terminator TSCC.

NBC is one of the worst stations when it comes to handling decent properties; same, to a lesser extent, with CBS. I agree that The Cape probably would've had a lot more people watching on SyFy or at least online. But, like all media groups (TV, FM radio, newspapers), it's painfully obvious that they're not responding and adapting to the needs/desires of an audience with changing habits regarding what they're producing. Another twenty years or so, I think, will show a thinned-out group of those organizations catering more towards the specialized demands of their consumer public. After all, the same sort of thing happened when cable television started becoming wide-spread in the early eighties.
