Those are awesome/humorous, but like Ash said...I'm not holding my breath.

If this turns out to be as good as the recent media implies, then Gearbox deserves a medal.

For what? Finalizing the game?
3D Realms did the vast majority of the work. Then, when they got shut down, all the code got handed over to Gearbox to finish it up. I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of game assets and maps, were all done by 3D Realms.

Yeah, but are you willing to be like "It's OK, 3D Realms, we don't mind that you took like 12 years to make what will probably be a game that pales in comparison to it's predecessor"

In essence, releasing something that all know never would have been release. From what I've read in an interview, the publisher would basically assign one person per level, and just force them to constantly work on the level with little to no hope from other employees, stretching the whole team too thin. Imagine how long bug testing and finalizing would have taken, if it hadn't been cancelled by then.
Also, because Gearbox seems to have love for the title (as should be expected, since Randy Pitchford once worked on Duke Nukem years ago). I'm not saying any developer/publisher who picked it up wouldn't have done a good job, but they certainly seem to be devoted to giving the game the release they feel it deserves.

i thought this was pretty cool of Gearbox:
| Quote: |
Duke Nukem Forever has been in development for nearly a decade and a half. It's taken so long that to say it took "forever" would not be a pun so much as it would be accurate. As a result, compiling a list of everyone who has ever contributed to it is a monumental task, to say the least. To ensure that no one's contributions will be missed, Gearbox has set up a website for anyone who has been involved with the game to submit a request to be acknowledged.
"Duke Nukem Forever is legendary in its development cycle," the site reads. "Over the years, the game has been in the hands of several publishers and many developers have come through the doors at 3D Realms that may have contributed in some way to the game. As the studio responsible for Duke Nukem Forever, it is our desire to recognize and acknowledge the people who have have in some way been a part of the legacy and evolution of the game."
The site allows contributors to identify themselves as having worked at a developer, publisher, as a member of the press, or a fan/community member. It asks that those applying provide details about their contribution, as well as rate on a scale of 1-5 how much impact they had at the time and how much impact they think their contributions still have today.
From the sound of it, those who apply and are verified with be listed in the game's credits. It's a thoughtful gesture by Gearbox, and one that will most certainly be appreciated by whomever's job it would have been to track down all of these people otherwise. |

At this point though people who contributed are old enough to have dementia.

You should shut up and be happy it even exists. That's what people keep telling me about MVC3.

Looks likes Halo. In fact, that first shot of him on a gun shooting at a big ship while smaller ships attack is pretty much the end of Reach.

They did that in one of the TimeSplitters games too. And probably like 1500 sci-fi movies. Doesn't make it less cool.

Can't find the link where I read this from, but apparently it's date is being pushed back. It might now be sometime in June.

What are you talking about?
The only news I have seen today is that they are looking to credit all the authors...

To be fair, I said that you should shut up and actually play the game beire passing judgement. I saw your player card! You haven't even tried half the characters or played online!

I haven't played online, it's true. I'm pretty sure I've played as everyone except Storm, and I'm not sure why it would say otherwise.

Oh snap!!
You made Jew sad.
And yea, to a degree you are right Syd. Sure it is a game (MVC3) like any other that comes out that warrants criticism.
On the other hand, it's Marvel vs Capcom 3, a game that many thought would never see the light of day is finally in your hands, a gift to fanboys and fangirls. Enjoy it!

It's not really a gift, so much as it is an attempt to make money. There's some fanservice in the form of Chris, Deadpool, and Haggar, but at the end of the day, Capcom knew you'd buy it no matter what the roster was. And you did. I don't think anyone was begging for the inclusion of Arthur, MODOK, Amaterasu, Tron Bonne, Zero, Nathan Spencer, She Hulk, Hsien-Ko or Crimson Viper. I bet people were excited about Phoenix... until they played her.
Mega Man 9 and 10 were gifts.
Sonic The Hedgehog 4 was supposed to be a gift, but it kinda sucked. Speaking of which, is there still going to be an Episode 2, or has Sega completely abandoned that experiment?

Yeah dude, your player card is full of zeroes for most of the roster. Maybe you play a lot of versus mode and that's not counted or something?
I don't want to derail the thread, but the game is loaded with fan service. The things the characters say, their animations, their music, their endings, even a good chunk of the alternate colors. You might not be familiar with all of it, is all.
And I know I've said it before, but a ton of the characters that were chosen, especially on the Capcom side, got me excited.

Megaman 9 might have been a gift. A misguided one, but still a gift, but to say megaman 10 wasn't a cash in is silly.
