25 years ago, on this day, a little game by the still-novice game-designer Shigeru Miyamoto came out for the Famicom Disc System in Japan - The Legend of Zelda. Happy birthday Link, now let's hope Nintendo recognizes this and give us a real celebration (and no, nothing like the crap we got when Mario turned 25 last year).

So, what are your best Zelda-memories? Favorite Zelda-games? Here is my ranking from best to worst:

1. Majora's Mask

2. A Link to the Past

3. Ocarina of Time

4. Twilight Princess

5. Adventures of Link

6. Wind Waker

7. Link's Awakening

8. Minish Cap

9. The Legend of Zelda

10. Oracle of Ages

I have not played enough of Oracle of Seasons, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks to rank them. Happy birthday Zelda!

I like the Game Boy games and Minish Cap the most. I haven't bothered with the DS games because I trust my brother's judgment on them.

I have honestly only played the first and the second ones on the nes. I liked the Second one the best actually.

i also played Oracle of Season, Wind Waker, Minish Cap and i didn't like them at all. I just seem to dislike any newer Zelda game except Twilight Princess.

Man. I really need to play Majora's Mask. I had no idea so many people ranked it so high.

Anyway, mine would have to be...

It's funny how so many people have Majora's Mask and Link's Adventure as their favorites. And here I thought my whole life that I was some sort of wierdo.

It's definitely one of those games I'm glad I went back to and beat, even though I used the Dark Link glitch.

It also epitomizes the phrase "confuse the ever-loving shit out of a five year old so that he just plays it off and on for years without any clue of what he's supposed to do or how he's supposed to do it."

All I remember is "get candle go west" or some shit like that, and fighting giant jelly beans, and dying a lot.

Oh, and one guy in one of the towns that would just say "error." every time you talked to him.

Same with the first game, seems like both NES Zeldas were those kind of games where if you weren't lucky enough to get a mint copy that included the manual, you were fucked. All my games as a kid came from the pawn shop sans box and manual, leading me to guess as to what the features and all that where as I played. For instance, I did not figure out that you could jump on Scrooge's cane in Duck Tales until I read it on this very site. I spent at least eighteen years trying to beat that game without doing the ol' pogo-stick-cane trick. I got pretty far for not knowing that, too.

Not that I would have read the manuals anyway.

i never read the manual for zelda I or II and i did ok on those games.

in terms of ducktales, i didnt know about pogo jumping until after my brother told me about it. and that was cuz he read the manual.
