I like live albums but prefer the studio albums over them. Live stuff makes a good compliment to the studio recordings. I have a few live Iron Maiden albums and the live stuff never sounds as good as the studio tracks as Syd pointed out.

Don't get me wrong, some bands are as good live, if not better. I'm pretty sure KISS's first big hit was the live version of "Rock N' Roll All Nite" from their Alive album.

But some stuff just doesn't work live.

Syd, unless my memory is seriously atrophied Nirvana's Live From The Muddy Banks Of The Wishkah rocks ten times harder than any of their studio albums, or their other live stuff where he was in stare at his shoes opiate trance mode, check it out.
*edit*

Uh, most G Funk Gangsta Rap sampled heavily from disco tunes, so almost already done? I can dig you up some examples if you like...

SYD! DO A DISC-RAP SONG WHERE YOU SAMPLE "I WAS MADE FOR LOVING YOU"!!

And yes, the live version of "Rock n Roll All Nite" was their first hit.

Does anybody here have a Ross Rifle?
