I mean, sure there was that one episode where they almost converted, but it's pretty clear they're not Catholic.
I'm also kind of curious as to why they think it's a show "for kids".
Still, they're right in that the show does promote Christian values and does deal with spirituality on a regular basis.

I remember reading somewhere that the Pope approves of Ned Flanders, but that memory may have become a bit distorted over time.

John Paul II or Benedict the 16th?

Probably JP Deuce. I don't think Benedict XVIth approves of anything other than vaguely resembling something that came off of Gizmo. That guy scares the nards off of me.

Growing up in a pretty conservative household, I wasn't supposed to watch the Simpsons because it "promoted" vulgarity and drinking. Over time I realized this wasn't true and my parents lightened up on it.
I still hate Lisa though.

With the exception of Kyle, all the main South Park kids are Catholic.

Season 16 Episode 21, "The Father, The Son, and The Holy Guest Star", bart and homer change their religion from protestant to catholic. Ergo, Simpsons not catholic. Vatican fails...again.

Erhm, I couldn't read the page, it says 404....
I liked the old Lisa. The last 10 seasons Lisa Simpson seems like a douche to me....

I was originally allowed to watch the simpsons, but when I started calling my dad Homer Simpson, then I was swiftly kicked in the ass and wasn't allowed to watch it for at least six months.

You do not have to be Christian to promote Christian values.
Hell, it's even possible to be an agnostic Christian. I am.

Also Matt Groening hasn't been hands on with stories in a large role since the tracey ulman days.

Yeah I heard that they said the Simpson were Catholic a few months back, I always assumed they were Protestant. I think the voice of Marge Simpson is Jewish in real life, also I believe Harry Shear, who does a ton of voices, and from Spinal tap is Jewish as well. I know the voice actor of Bart is a devout Scientologist.
I know some people hate Lisa, but I think her true character shines through in "Lisa's Wedding". It shows she really is really a good person at heart.
It's arguably the best episode of the Simpsons, or at least top 5 for some.

I don't dislike Lisa, I dislike that she gets the same type of episode each time. It's always a I'm gonna be different and open minded and embrace something everyone else doesn't like / doesn't get, but then be just as close minded as the people I accused of being closed minded in the first place since I can't convert them, and eventually reach some sort of compromise before the episode ends situation.
It was heartwarming with the whole Thou Shalt Not Steal episode way back in the day, and it worked for Lisa The Vegetarian, but that's about it for me.

With the exception of The Passion of the Christ and a few others over the years, non-Christian films have consistently promoted Christian values much better than actual Christian movies. This mostly has to do with priorities; Christian directors care much more for message over production values and consequently harm the reputation of Christians as a whole.
