I am sorry to hear about this situation, Doddsino. I am sure that eventually things will mellow down, though it sucks if she's creating drama just for drama's stake. A mother accusing her son of satanism is, in my opinion, definitely over the top.

Don't give up on your mother just yet, though. As others have mentioned, she's probably pissed that you're going to a concert over spending Christmas with her, but that's your decision and hopefully she can respect it. Still, don't give up on her. It probably wouldn't hurt to try to have some holiday get-together, if your time off allows it.

Also, if this problem of sudden drama has been going on for quite some time - which is what it sounds like - you might want to communicate that with her. If she won't learn from her own mistakes or faults, then you may be able to help.

I'm sure there's hundreds of other details I'm not aware of, but I don't think it's a good idea to just cut off contact with one's relatives without trying to resolve problems. Good luck, man.
