How do you say it?
I prefer "an".

I always referred to it as my Nintendo. In fact, I never had to explain until the last generation, who automatically assume that the Nintendo I'm talking about meant N64. And when Super NES came out, I just called it Super.
However if someone does asks it's "An En-ee-ess".

Agreed. "an N-E-S." Never, EVER, "ness."

I believe Nintendo's commercials said N-E-S, too.

When it first came out I called it "an N-E-S". However, when the SNES came out, I called that "a super ness" or "sness". From that point forward the NES became "ness".

I recall a lot of the ads referring to it in full as the "Nintendo Entertainment System".

Nintendo skirted that issue by referring to it as a Super NES.

It just flows better as "enieyess" in my head. Some acronyms sound better when pronounced as a word, like NATO (NAY-TO), or NAMBLA, while some sound better with each letter pronounced separately like SEC, or WTC.

I went with the Acronym approach, so en-e-ess. then Super en-e-ess,

I say "a NES" more often because I tend to pronounce the anagram as En-euh-ess and that just doesn't sound well.
But anyway I almost always refer to it as "Old Nintendo".

I call it a Nintendo, and the SNES a Super Nintendo.

I call the NES the 'En-Ee-Es', SNES the 'S-En-Ee-Es' or 'Super En-Ee-Ess', Nintendo 64 the 'En-sixtyfour', GameCube the 'Gee-Cee-En' (sometimes En-Gee-Cee) and Wii the 'We'.
EDIT:
In list form:
NES - En-Ee-Es
SNES - S-En-Ee-Es, Super En-Ee-Ess
N64 - En-sixtyfour
Gamecube (GCN) - Gee-Cee-En (En-Gee-Cee)
Wii - 'We'

I've never even heard anyone refer to it as the "Ness" in person. I've only heard "En Ee Es" or just straight "Nintendo". If they call it a "Nintendo" they usually add a qualifier like "original Nintendo" or "8-bit Nintendo".

I don't think I've ever referred to the Gamecube by its initials, even online.

I usually just called them Nintendo or Super Nintendo.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas. |

Yeah, I always called it GameCube, never anything else. I don't think I even referred to it as Nintendo at all.
