Also I had no issues with the things you're talking about. It played fluidly and smoothly, with plenty of time to see what's coming. What system are you on? Or rather, are you complaining that a game about speed makes you act quickly? The video you posted has Sonic falling straight down in mid-jump, but you have to DO THAT ON PURPOSE. He doesn't just stop for no reason, you have to stop moving him!

The number of lives is pretty preposterous though. I went into the final boss with nearly 150 tries.

PS3 and i know Sonic is a fast game i have played the other games. That however is not my point. I am saying the game mechanic doesn't work with regards to platforming. There is a difference between a game being fast and split second reactions to something appearing onto the screen and if you miss it you lose out.

Yes well sadly that is not how momentum works.. if i jump forward into the air i can't just decide to stop mid air and travel straight down. You shouldn't be able to stop in mid air. That is what the video is showing. They messed up the physics big time and they just should have used the ones from the previous game.

Holy shit! This game is twelve hundred points and it's only half of a sonic game!
 Megaman 9 and 10 were 800ms each.

 Scott pilgrim was 800ms.

 Sonic 2 was 400 points.

 Shadow complex was 1600 points.

When you buy all four installments at 1200ms each, you're paying like sixty dollars.

You are being tricked into paying sixty bucks for a prettified genesis game!

What's really funny is that both Sonic Colors and Sonic Free Riders, which are FULL CURRENT GENERATION RETAIL GAMES due out in November, are priced at 49.99 each. So they're each $10 less than the completed Sonic 4.
So you're paying more for the DLC game than for the real ones.

On the bright side, if Sonic 4 is like every other Sega title from the last 6 years, it'll be down to $20 within 6-8 months.

My theory? Sonic 4 is probably about as big as Sonic 3 combined with Sonic & Knuckles, so Sega figured they were giving us a "deal" by charging us half of what it cost for both cartridges combined.

I'm guessing that maybe a few months after the final episode is released there will be a "Buy 4 for the price of 3" deal. $45 isn't bad for a new Sonic game, but I hate the waiting.

Yeah, for $60, they might has well have put it on a disc and packaged it with art book and soundtrack. But no, that would make too much sense.
I can see the Sega CEO now: "I want people to pay $60 for this. And I don't want them to be happy about it, either."

I have the trial and, can't get over the camera. It feels way too close to Sonic, making it more about memorization than anything.

I originally heard 3, but everyone was saying 4, so I went with it.
Either way, it's bullshit. $15 per episode is too much. If they want to go that route, they should have put it on the 3DS as a retail title.

Even at forty five it's wild. I mean, I want it, but if I have that money in my pocket, I'd rather spend it on more meaty games.
My roommate bought it and we play the shit out of it though.

Might I suggest, then, Super Meat Boy? It's on sale until the end of the month in the Live Arcade and is pretty huge.

It's better than eating a sandwich made of shit and mustard too, but that doesn't mean it's a worthy investment.

People keep saying this, but if there's an explanation somewhere I've missed it. 17 levels for $15. Sonic 3 was $50 for less content, and we didn't call that a ripoff, did we? Even if the final game as a whole is $45, that's still less for a massive amount of content relative to standard pricing conventions.

So yeah. Whut?

because when sonic 3 came out, it was okay to charge fifty dollars for a genesis game. over fifteen years later, it isn't.
Would you spend three grand on a rear projection TV nowadays, knowing that you could get some kind of a fancy pants 3d, high resolution, lcd screen for the same price?

Well it's a good thing they're charging a fraction of fifty dollars then, isn't it? It's less than a third, and you're still getting more content.
And Sonic Advance/Sonic Rush sold for what, $40? Those were more recent and on handhelds, and I suspect they were shorter than the final Sonic 4 will be once all the episodes are combined.

I'll buy Sonic 4 when they put it on Steam, because Steam will eventually have some super sale where you can get the complete game for $10.

It hasn't. Fans were so unhappy with Episode 1 that Sonic Team is taking a lot of time refining Episode 2, if not completely overhauling it.
