“The vortex of ants… is a circular mill where a group of ants (sometimes hundreds to millions of ants) get separated from the main swarm and ended up following each other’s scent in a circle. It’s called the death spiral because they continue to go in circles until they’re exhausted and die.”

I would be scared as hell if that happened on my property. I really hate ants, and I would think that when they all gathered like that, it would be bad news. I'd think they were forming Super Ant or something.

Wow, that's pretty disgusting but incredibly interesting at the same time.

I was watching a special on one of those fancy thinkin' channels (History or Discovery or something, can't remember which) about ants that live in villages on farms and attack and eat rodents and other pests, thus becoming essential to the humans who live on the farms. Unfortunately, sometimes the ants will make their way into the villagers' homes and attack the villagers. But the villagers don't die from hundreds of ant bites; they suffocate when the ants crawl into their lungs.

Bugs are creepy. :\

It looks like an Ant Hurricane. Would seriously freak me out to walk outside and find that.

Wonder what would happen if you dropped a rock in the middle? Would they all just haul ass and scatter?

I'd more likely try to burn them all with gasoline.

Ask MacGyver, he knows how to deal with ants. Charlton Heston, too.

I believe those are driver ants. They can take down a bird

Crazy, an antnado! Ants are badass, I saw a documentary where they had this lab testing all their physical attributes, fuckers were walking upside down on glass holding some insane multiplied amount of their mass while a giant ass fan was trying to blow them off. They also had footage of an ant colony absolutely destroying a bee hive.

I wonder what would happen if you set that on fire, would they keep circling? Would the run around all over the place? Would you hear a million tiny little screams?
