The only Dream Theater album I ever bought and really listened extensively to was Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory, which is honestly fucking fantastic. I've heard some of their other stuff, and Portnoy is a fantastic drummer. Hopefully if he's not sticking with them, he'll go on to do something else that's really good.

The man is a talented drummer, I actually find this news to be good. They need to lose the rest to better things, or get Mike back and get him to bring a decent vocalist with him.

I don't like Dream Theatre but this is a surprise even for myself. I am sure the fans aren't taking it well. He is a fantastic drummer and i hope he is successful in his future projects.

How you go from Dream Theater to Avenged Sevensuck, I don't know. I can only hope he'll influence them and make them better, which could end up being good for commercial radio... but the populace won't allow that.
