Oh, and electronica/industrial/techno.
No thanks! |
Ouch! That hurts. I love techno with an unbridled passion. I dislike country, but only because it's all the same jangly, whiny stuff. But I am sure there's great country out there that ISN'T pop shit. The same could be said for many genres.
But I feel that people who hate a genre never really know a whole lot about the genre they hate. They just hear the bad stuff and never take the time to know the good stuff because they assume it will sound like the bad stuff. I'm this way with country. A lot of folks I know are that way with techno/electronic music. And it frustrates the hell out of me, being a DJ and what-not. |
I also dig much of the hard industrial, electronic, EBM, whatever you call it. Some of it's better than others sure, but I like everything from Ministry to Massive Attack. Front Line Assembly to Killing Joke. My list of likes goes on and on however I'd have to say that I can't stand about 85% of everything that went mainstream. Especially after 1990. I fuckin hate new country, although some of the older stuff, Johnny Cash, etc. was listenable (only because there's no comparison). I never could stand rap. And all this nu-metal garbage or whatever it's called. Nickelback, Goo-goo dolls, Linkin Biscuit Backstreet Park Boys, and all that shit makes me want to shit all over the entire human race for liking it.
