Exactly. It looks great. It's just that I don't/never will own a PC powerful to run the game on the minimum settings.

Most of the graphical power needed comes from those damn cutscenes! The unit detail is actually not to impressive, but you still have to consider that its an RTS.

You don't remember the suicide bombers, alien parasites that latch onto your face, the giant rocket shooting toad, and duke nukem ripping its head off and taking a shit down its neck?

I finally got my collector's edition from Amazon today, they sure took their sweet time with it. I've only played the first mission so far because I have to go to bed to be at work at 7. Really liking it so far though.

I remember I spearheaded Starcraft LANparties among my friends back in 1999. Ironically enough, I was the first to grow tired of them.
Eleven years later, I'm not really interested in SCII. I guess I'll wait for Blizzard to release the three "episodes" or whatever they're calling it, and buy the Battle Chest or something.
But I'm glad to hear it is good =)

This. I don't have the attention anymore to watch the cut scenes. They look cool, but there's too many of them and they last way too long.
The game itself could be stripped down and playable on a pretty moderate system. I bought an AMD dualcore, 2.7 cpu and a 8800gt video card a long time ago and I'm impressed that the game lets me run all the settings on high.

I'm way behind on this topic, but I fucking love Starcraft I and what I've played of II. I bought a new laptop just to make sure I could run this game on max settings. Completely awesome. If you want to look me up on Battle.net and game let me know, I'll PM you my e-mail.

I play fairly regularly and since global play is now available if anyone wants to play post in the thread and we can organise some games!
Also HOTS is out next week. Any thoughts?

I have it pre-ordered and excited to get a hold of it. I play SC II regularly, but I play the arcade style games. I'm no good at the competitive RTS. I get smoked every time.

I preordered the collectors edition as I got some money off of it.
Apparently it's already been dispatched. I eagerly await my zerg rush mousepad.

So I beat the campaign on Brutal. It was trivially easy compared to WoL, but still a lot of fun. The plot was hilarious.

so... i know HotS is chapter 2 or some shit, but does it add anything to the multiplayer experience? or is it mostly just a continuation of the single player campaign?

Yeah there are a few new cool features.
New units for each race. Two for Zerg, Two for Terran and Three for Protoss.
There are new maps for multiplayer with new features - new destructible rocks and stuff.
They added a levelling system where you unlock new portraits and stuff as you win games etc.
They changed the replays so you can watch replays in a group with other players.
Changed the interface. They added the ability to play random unranked matches - aka non ladder matches which was not present for some reason.
On saying that, some of this was added by a free patch cause I was able to play WoL with the new interface and stuff - but it really was added in anticipation of the new expansion and really when a new expansion comes out for a RTS there is no point playing the vanilla version anymore.
As for Single Player I played it on normal and it was a cakewalk. Like Puff I should have played it on a higher difficulty.
The story I began liking but then I realised by the end that there were so many problems with it.

It honestly isn't more difficult even on the higher difficulties.
