I just punished myself by watching that Simpsons intro in it's entirety, what's so controversial about it?

The fact that it's fucking terrible and embarrassing to watch? The fact that out of all the songs they could have used, they used a song by some shitty flash-in-the-pan pop singer? Seriously, how many dicks did Kesha suck at FOX to get the Simpsons to use her song? Or rather, how much money did her label shovel at them?
I don't know who the fuck she is, and yes the song did suck ass. I just figured I was missing something controversal like Lisa being a slut or something.

I can't understand for the life of me how someone like this gets to be a pop star. She's not that attractive, she appears to have no stage presence and her dancing is nothing special.
Britney Spears had no more talent as an artist, but she was at least hawt and could dance. The record company execs could have done a lot better than this fugly chick.

I like the couple of seconds where she appears to be waiting for a cue or for the vocal track to start playing and the irritated look on her face. It's interesting, though, to see the differential between, let's say, 80's one hit wonders and now. In the 80s, it seemed to take at least a modicum of talent to be one whereas it requires none now. Oh, the times, they are a'changin'

You know, if it appeared in the middle of an episode as a random interlude instead of as the intro, I wouldn't have a problem with it at all. Simpsons have used plenty of songs I don't like, as it's never bothered me before. This does, and probably only because it's the intro.
To be honest, I haven't watched a new episode of the Simpsons in about ten years, but if they're using that craptacular number, it's not going to bring me back. I'm sure they still have good moments, but really, it's time to let them go the way of Gunsmoke and just graciously say goodbye, America.

Pics or it didn't happen. Wait, we have video. Well better video or it didn't happen. The frame rate with that hulu video is all over the place. At points the video and her lips match, and at points they don't. However, at the same points when her lips don't match, the background dancers movements don't match the beat either. Considering there's a million people who can keep time and would kill to be a faceless nobody dancing on stage, I'm inclined to believe that the background dancers are indeed in time with the song, ergo Kesha most likely is as well. Besides, that version sounds very different (worse) than the album version, so there's no point to lip sync it. Lip syncing incidents, to the best of my knowledge, almost exclusively involve the studio track.

Sadly, Klimb, that IS me being chill. I'm a pretty high strung motherfucker about some things, and this is definitely one of them. Honestly, I don't know why more people aren't screaming holy fucking hell about the whole incident, and you can be damn sure that BP'll get a slap on the wrist, at most, for the situation. After all, an 89 million dollar fee for cleanup means something to a company that posts billion dollar quarterlies. That's like me going and paying the electric bill out of my paycheck, eg it doesn't mean shit fiscally and it's done to avoid something putative (having a lengthy congressional investigation or having my power shut off, to contrast the two). That money doesn't really mean too much for me on a month to month basis.
I dunno, I guess it would be like me saying, "Wow, that Lady Gaga and her funny outfits. The record company that puts out her music is just way worse than Hitler." I've got nothing against Ice personally or anything, frankly, I tend to agree on a lot of stuff that's said by him. This one just rubbed me the wrong fucking way.
I totally want a BP T-Shirt, though. But I'm a fucking asshole.

By contrast:
Obviously the video is worse quality, but the video is also much more fluid, and things seem to line up better in all aspects. I wouldn't say it's conclusive, but I'd say it's enough to throw out the hulu version of the video as evidence.

Every time I see her name, I read it as KeSTRINGha. I swear, computers have ruined my perception of reality.

Are we still on the simpsons thing? How is referencing something in an INTRO which the people making the show barely care about, more important than if it were in the show proper?

Jeebus, I am now convinced it was lip-synced. With the additional fluidity there are more signs of her not keeping the mic next to her mouth when she sings, yet the volume never changes. It sounds exactly like a studio even when she is bouncing.

Surprising fun fact of the day: Ke$ha is not her real name.

Honestly, who cares if it was lip-synched? She probably didn't write the song or do any of the dance choreography either. She's just a product designed to make money off 15-year-old girls who are impressed by her cool song about partying.

Yes she's white. Her name's Kesha, not Keisha, you racist mother fucker. And yes, Kesha actually is her real name...just not with a $ in it.
Doesn't make up for the fact she sounds like she's trying to impersonate Fran Dresher on helium.

I have to agree with this.
And I want to say again, why did she mix space with her song about partying?
It makes no fucking sense!!!

Who cares?
I suppose I don't really care, but I find it somewhat sad, and therefore interesting. I suppose I care more about the idea that pop stars have to fake it to make it now and aren't even trying hard at that.
