Wow, neat list there, finally it seems I've found someone on this site who's not a complete tool. How do you survive here? I've only been here for a few days and am already thinking about leaving. What are some of your favorite bands?
Not familiar with chiptune, though.

Anyone who hasn't heard of it is a complete loser and your music tastes are too commercial. I'd say kill yourself, but what you're doing barely constitutes living anyway.
Classic, thrash and power metal. I like metal in all its forms, although I admit to being a "clean" vocals snob.

I like everybody here, but yeah. There's a crapload of bands I can name off that I like, but my top ten is: Smashing Pumpkins, Joy Division, Crystal Castles, Swans, HEALTH, the Cure, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Coil, and Pearl Jam.
Chiptune, basically, sounds like NES music with (in most cases) live instruments added. A perfect example is Anamanaguchi:

I like linking stuff, so picked some favorite songs as well:

Wait, I forgot also like swing music, as well as artists like Miles Davis, Mudhoney, Billie Holiday, and every band that's ever played Lilith Fair.
Oh shit, I just jizzed myself thinking about how cool I am. You are all so uncool and pedantic.

I listen to mostly Ska and Electro/House these days, along with a good bit of Metal. I'm up for most anything, except Country. And Cameron, thanks for linking that. I had no idea how to spell the fucking artists name.
Also, defining music by genre? Totally plebian.

Smashing Pumpkins used to be one of my favorites, but I grew out of them, still like em' quite a bit, though. I never use to think much of JD, but I've really started to like them a lot lately, Day Of The Lords is probably one of the best songs of all-time. Never heard of Crystal Castles. Hate Swans. Never heard HEALTH. Cure is very hit or miss for me, but Disintergration is probably one of my favorite albums of all-time. Nine Inch Nails are cool. Depeche Mode is cool. Never really listened to Coil, though I have heard them a couple of times. I feel Pearl Jam are overrated among grunge bands, but they're still pretty great, can never bring myself to change than channel when one of their songs come on the radio.
My top 10 favorite bands atm are: Slowdive, Idaho, Stars Of The Lid/Take Pills Die, Pet Shop Boys, Bailter Space, Bleach, Plexi, David Bowie, Daft Punk, Boris
Here's some recommendations for yah: (bands with albums in parenthesis, first tier albums are bolded)
Post-Punk - Bleach (Killing Time), Bauhaus (In The Flat Field, The Sky's Gone Out), Bailter Space (Thermos), The Chameleons (Script Of The Bridge, Strange Times, What Does Anything Mean? Basically), The Church (Starfish), Comsat Angels (Sleep No More), Gang Of Four (Entertainment!), James Chance (Buy!), Josef K (The Only Fun In Town), Psychedelic Furs (All Of This And Nothing), The Sound (From The Lion's Mouth, Jeopardy, Shock Of Daylight + Heads and Hearts), Sonic Youth (Sonic Youth + Early Live)
Gothic Rock/Darkwave - Eden House (Smoke And Mirrors)
Noise Pop/Rock - The Manhattan Love Suicides (S/T, Burnt-Out Landscapes), Black Tambourine (Complete Recordings), Velocity Girl (Simpatico!), Sonic Youth (Bad Moon Rising, Confusion Is Sex + Kill Yr Idols, Evol, Sister)
Ambient - Stars Of The Lid (entire discography), Biosphere (Substrata), Aphex Twins (Selected Ambient Works 85-92), Brian Eno (Ambient 1 - Music For Airports, Ambient 4 - On Land), Eluvium (Talk Amongst The Trees), Lustmord (Heresy), Take Pills Die (There Are Better Ways To Kill Yourself You Know, Dead Sea Parting, Sweater Kittens), Zoviet France (Shadow: Thief Of The Sun)

You know, this joke might work better if you guys actually knew any eclectic genres or artists.

Love that Anamanaguchi song that was posted.
Mostly because it's the title song on Bit.Trip Runner... and that game is awesome, as is its music.
Favorite genres:
Grunge/90's alternative (STP, Soundgarden, Collective Soul)
Thrash (Megadeth, Testament, Anthrax, Slayer, DFA)
Melodic Death Metal (In Flames, Dark Tranquillity)
Symphonic Black Metal (Dimmu Borgir)
Power Metal (Children of Bodom)
Metalcore (Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, Soilwork)
Groove Metal (Lamb of God, Pantera, Machine Head)
Also, if you don't know what DFA stands for, then you're a tool and it's obvious that your shitty musical tastes come straight from VH1.
