So, apparently Warner Bros is bringing a revival of Thundercats to fruition. Seems like it may have potential.

Says Warner Bros.' animation's Sam Register, "In addition to being Warner Bros. Animation's first anime series, ThunderCats marks our most ambitious foray yet into fantasy. The realism and dynamic visual style we've achieved are sure to thrill viewers, and the cool weapons, vehicles and technology should help the show appeal to a diverse audience."
ThunderCats marks a collaboration between Warner Bros. Animation and Japan's Studio4C, who worked on The Animatrix, Gotham Knights and Halo Legends.
A sweeping tale combining swords and science and boasting ferocious battles with the highest of stakes, the grand origin story of Prince Lion-O's ascension to the throne – and of those who would thwart his destiny at any cost – takes on epic dimensions in this sharp new telling. As the forces of good and evil battle each other in the quest for the fabled Stones of Power, Lion-O and his champions learn valuable lessons of loyalty, honor and mortality in every episode. |
The art in that promotional pic looks pretty good, I will give this a shot. Not sure when it is supposed to air.

Wow. I may well be the biggest Thundercats fan on the planet, and I cannot wait for this. I have some reservations about the art...Lion-O there looks far more elven than feline, and that's not ok. It is just promotional though, and the overall art style has potential. Just remember: THEY ARE CATS, not elves!

In regards to them not looking "cat-like" enough, there was also this little bit.

So apparently they are supposed to be more cat-like than ever.

Yeah, because of the limitation of animation, right?

Would this be better as a movie than a show?

I could see that promo pic being a Magic card. Seems the same sort of artwork.
Lion-o W1
Creature - Cat Warrior
2/1
No matter how you draw him, Lino-o is still a whiney little bitch.

Why is Lion-O black? |
I think that's mostly shadow. If you look carefully on his arm, you can see the yellowish/orange undertones.
