Anyone else watching the marathon leading up to the special lead-in and the new episode? I've always enjoyed these for the weapon demos and the cheesy fight scenes.

I watched this show earlier in the year and I found it to be hokey pseudo-science. It was interesting to see how the weapons were used in a historical context, but the whole set-up where they "scientifically" test the weapons and then "calculate" the results using some bogus computer program was just retarded. I also hated how the two competing camps had to constantly talk shit to each other instead of just working together to get some real science out of the exercise.

It's a very "Hollywood" show that could have been so much better.

Yes, the show doesn't seem scientifically accurate. But, alot of people forget that the show is on Spike TV, not the History Channel. If it was, it'd be Nazi vs. Allied Soldier or Nostradamus vs. Jesus Christ or something all the time.

They've done pirates vs and ninjas vs, but you'd think they'd at least bring themselves to do pirate vs. ninja.

They've stated once that they would never do that, because of the backlash.

I totally agree. There's little scientific value in any of the show.

The Pirates vs Ninjas things reminds of Angel:The Series, where Angel and Spike had a heated argument about Cavemen vs Astronauts. I wonder if they'd ever do that one.

I find the show entertaining. I'm not watching it to learn about history.

Just started DVRing this recently because of this thread and finally watched a few of them. Yeah, it's cheesy and obviously the 'science' is questionable at best, but it's pretty entertaining. It is interesting to see just how much damage ancient weapons could cause. Seeing William Wallace's claymore cut through everything was brutal.

I like DVRing it so I can fast forward through a lot of the silliness. Makes it a solid 25-30 minute watch.

And since it's on Spike I don't get the criticism of it being too Hollywood. I don't think they're trying to make it legit enough to show in classrooms for historical purposes or anything. It's to show guys cutting and shooting blood-filled mannequins and pig carcasses.

Agreed, it's more or less to see the weapon tests and the final battle scene. This week's new episode was pretty awesome.

I find it funny that they put it into "State of the Art Computer Simulator" which something tells me it's just Excel...
The Jesse James Versus Al Capone was kind of sillier then it should have been. Maybe the gangster shot the cowboys out in the parking lot after the show.

Wrong. Jesus is a pacifist and would stand there while Nostradamus bludgeoned him to death. I know, I just asked my magic 8...er put the data into my fight simulator.

Jesus was not a pacifist...even though he preached to turn the other cheek, he'd rather turn over tax collector's tables and attack them with a whip.

Better yet...who would win? A man with no arms or a man with no legs? Granted, the guy with no arms would have the size and speed adavantage, but the guy with no legs would be more versatile because of all he could do with his arms.

I think we should have a "Who would win in a fight?" thread. This could get interesting...

How about Rasputin vs. Nostradamus?

Rasputin was nuts...who knows how many attempts on his life were taken, and when he finally was killed, it took a fuckload of effort.

Hitler was another example of someone with good luck. Had about a dozen attempts on his life and yet everytime he walked away unscathed.

Remember when Jesus returns he's going to fuck some satanic shit up.

I haven't watched any of the new episodes I want to see a type of Warrior fight another type of Warrior. Not Historical figures. Not modern day law enforcement teams either.
