I heard Conan's not making money off of this tour. He's using proceeds to pay and retain his staff and crew...he must want to keep them from getting other jobs so he can hire them for his next television show.

He doesn't need to get paid, since he did recieve that $30 million buyout, but his staff didn't.

Conan O'Brien's Comeback Could Have Been on Xbox Live
Ousted Late Night host Conan O'Brien was at one point in discussions with Microsoft to produce a new program for Xbox Live, according to reports.
TBS made the surprise announcement this morning that O'Brien would return to television on its network in November. However, according to Deadline Hollywood, Microsoft was amongst the other companies in discussions with Team Conan after his departure from NBC.
According to the report, "there were discussions with Microsoft about an Xbox deal for Conan's show that would have broken new ground."
No details on the proposed show are available beyond this, and with today's TBS announcement, it is doubtful that any are forthecoming. |

TBS? He's going to TBS??? That's kind of depressing. Nothing good comes from TBS. Don't tell me he's following George Lopez.

Actually Lopez will be following him. Hopefully this will drive Lopez's ratings into the ground and kill his show swifter than Tony Danza's talk show.

Wow. That was unexpected. I really don't even know what to think of Conan on TBS. It will either totally transform TBS into watchable television programming or completely ruin Conan's career. I have no idea what's gonna happen.

Network TV isn't what it used to be. TV isn't what it used to be. I DVR'd Conan on NBC. Now I'll DVR Conan on TBS. TBS: Office reruns and Conan? Sounds good to me.

He should have got onto HBO. Then he could get away with anything he wanted.
Most of the best shows seem to be on premium cable for many reasons:
A. No Commercials.
B. Can have shows with a Hard R rating. (Violence, Gore, Language, and Nudity are all okay.)
C. No confined to 22 or 44 minutes an episode. Can be 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 120 minutes, whatever.
D. Seem to have less concerns regarding ratings, and let even small cult shows have thier run.
E. Also seems like there is less interference from the host network.
Some great shows from premium: Nurse Jackie, Dexter, Eastbound and Down, The Tudors, Weeds, Californication, True Blood, and Sparticus.

I don't now for sure, but I would guess that a premium channel like HBO couldn't pay Conan nearly as much as he use to make, or as much as TBS could muster up. And Conan's humor probably works better when he has a line that he can work up to, but not quite cross. That was why people liked things like the Masturbating Bear, because it was SO RISQUE!
His audience will be higher on TBS, as well. Very funny™.

I agree with most of this, except for Nurse Jackie being a "great" show.
I find the characters to be irritating, and the way it's advertised, I feel as though it's being forced down my throat.
True Blood also got a little weird but has been good for the most part.
Spartacus is great.

TBS, all things considered, isn't TOO bad a deal. TBS has consistently been catching the coveted 18-49 male demographic... strongly with reruns of Family Guy and stuff, but as far as basic cable channels go, TBS's ratings have been in the top 3. Maybe it's not a bad idea after all.
And I cared, perhaps a little too deeply about this whole debacle, but given that George Lopez graciously invited Conan along, and willfully relinquished his time slot to give Conan a place, I find my opinion of Lopez has dramatically increased.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas. |

After watching those videos, I think Conan should forgo the talk show, and just keep doing this and air them on TV.
