I know there are other threads on video game music here but i feel this is more appropriate in it's own thread.

Where can i get video game music? Mostly for the SNES etc. I know there are sites like ocremix and vgmusic but they deal with remixes of the songs and not the actual original tracks.

I've also heard of sites where you can get the music but it's in this weird format you have to play on a snes jukebox program or something - i have all the donkey kong country music in some weird format.

.mp3/mp4 is preferable. The problem is most of the music back then was never released officially so it's a bitch to get.

I'm not sure about the legality of this come to think of it - so close away if it infringes on rules.

If you are willing to get a plugin for your Winamp (If you are not using winamp I have no use for you!) you use to play music to play spf files http://snesmusic.org/v2/ is the most complete resource. I recommend it a lot because I can not stand the fairly steep quality reduction converting spf's to mp3's.

It's not rape if you rape everyone who accuses you.

The problem with using spfs is that i won't be able to put it on my ipod.

Actually even midi would be fine. I already have some in midi.

I would get the spc's and convert them into mp3's, but I'm used to messing around with audio files. Here's one way.

Yeah I guess it's a problem if you are all in to leaving your house and stuff.

All in mp3 form. Several OST and ASTs. I use this site all the time.

In the case of NES, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, SNES, and Sega Genesis, I usually rip it myself via emulators & roms, then burn the WAV files to a CD.
