My friend and I got into an argument over South Park and Family guy.
"it's stupid pointless retarded and it's fans are morons"
that's our argument, me- Family Guy Him- South Park.
I can't be the only one that hates Family Guy more or as much as Cartman.

It's kind of a dumb argument. They are a completely different type of show, the only real trait they share is that they are animated.
And Family Guy isn't funny.

No, it's a dumb arguement like Josh said. You can't compare those two shows. I was never a big fan of South Park, but I love Family Guy (well, at least up to season 5). I prefer non-sequitur and ridiculous humor over shock/edgy humor, but again, they aren't comparable.

Early Family Guy is the sort of show I would have made if I had a TV show. Random nonsequitur pop culture references mixed with an over-arching coherent plot. Only mine would have been live action, and would have relied heavily on cameos. It also would have used pan-outs instead of cut-aways. Like, someone mentions Christopher Walken, and the camera pans out to reval that he's right there in the room.
South Park is the sort of show I prefer to watch. Topical humor, political commentary, characters who have consistent personalities, and jokes that build toward some ultimate punchline.

Family Guy is idiotic, crude, disgusting "humor".
South Park is brilliant satire disguised as idiotic, crude, disgusting "humor".
There's really no contest.

South Park seems to hold up better as it ages, Every time I watch my old box sets of Family Guy VS by old sets of Southpark SP always wins, old FG is kind of boring. *imo*

Family guy from 1999-2002 > just about every TV show there was.
South Park was cool up until they started being a mature audience version of the Sunday comics. Modern South Park is absolute garbage, aside from a couple of episodes here and there.

I hate it when I agree with you, so I'll be more specific.
I agree with Douche, but I have found myself enjoying Family Guy's most recent episodes less than the older ones. By contrast, I have found myself enjoying South Park's recent episodes more than older ones.

I too watch them both and like them. The one thing they have in common though was that the shows that they tried to do after their first good show isn't as good. American Dad, The Cleveland Show, That's my Bush, Kenny Vs. Spenny just aren't as good as the original Product.

I would argue that American Dad is twice as funny as Family Guy.

I would argue that you probably smell like bacon grease and stale syrup.
I dunno, I just find it weird to compare two shows that really don't share that much in common. I wouldn't compare "Two and a Half Men" to "Saved by the Bell".

I remember watching the first episode the day it aired.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenny_vs._Spenny#Production
Quote: |
As of the fourth season, Kenny and Spenny are both executive producers, and receive a credit separate from five other executive producers. Also, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, creators of the hit TV show South Park, joined the show for the fourth season and were also given their own separate credit as executive producers for the ten episodes produced. |
I recall that in a interview with Kenny Hotz that Matt Stone and Trey Parker contacted them after they saw the show at 3am.

1. Yuck.
2. Don't you remember that one episode where they did those things that were kinda similar. Let's not even mention the fact that both use "real" actors AND have a laughtrack. Therefore Saved by the Bell = Two and a Half Men.

I'm usually guaranteed a few good laughs every time I watch Southpark. Family Guy is very hit or miss. It has its moments, but I'd rather watch SP.
The Simpsons and Married with Children are still my all-time two favorite shows.
