i live in the fucking bible belt and though we are called "music city u..s.a." , the only true music we produce is country or contemporary christian music.

I call bullshit.

As a fellow Nashvillian and one who is attempting to make a career out of audio engineering, I can say that this statement is not the case. Nashville is known for its Country and Christian music because we are the only place where those genres are recorded, for the most part, but that is hardly all that Nashville produces. Did you know that Jack White, Adrian Belew, and Ben Folds live in Nashville?

Here's a list of artists that have recorded at Ocean Way Studios in the last ten years. Yes, the list contains a lot of country/Christian artists, but if you look you'll also see names like Bright Eyes, Paul Simon, Elvis Costello, Black Crowes, Megadeth, and Yo-Yo Ma.

^ point goes to lushlush.

The 2000's gave us overproduced garbage, disney robot teens, radio disc jockeys with absolutely no control over airplay, american idol and emo, screamo and jack johnson.

All of which are garbage, IMO.
