Nothing ever comes here or I'm too busy, so the last concert I went to was Brand New/Dashboard Confessional...I'll let you decide which of the 2 bands truly sucked.

Went and saw Steely Dan's Rent Party '09 last Summer in Memphis, Tennessee.
Quite sadly, this is the only concert I've ever been to...but it was a hell of a show, I tell you.

The last show I caught was Bloc Party, which was fun if your into British indie or indie dance music.
I was going to go to Rise Against, but long story short my ride couldn't go, so I had to miss that. I need to learn to drive.

I have tickets to see Muse (with the Silversun Pickups opening). I haven't been this excited for a concert since I saw the Foo Fighters acoustic tour.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us. |

I saw Motorhead with Rev. Horton Heat and Nashville Pussy. Great show, but Motorhead was way too loud for a club. I think every other show on the stop was at an arena so they were probably testing out the full arsenal.
Before that was Dean and Britta and then the Gene Ween band. Good stuff.

Les Claypool, June 19th. Fun show. |
You lucky bastard! I'm so envious. The closest he is coming to me is London and that's one date!
I saw the Specials last November. They were good i was given the tickets and i am not a big fan. All i wanted to hear was Ghost Town, Gangsters and Message to Rudi.
Mission Accomplished.
Going to see Metallica in May and Pearl Jam in June.
I've seen them both already so i sort of know what to expect.

Fuck yeah! I was there in Austin. Great, great show, but I wish Motorhead had played longer and that Rev. HH had a shorter set. Nothing against them, but come on, it's Motorhead, the greatest rock and roll band in the world! (My opinion)

You do realize that their motto is "everything louder than everything else", right?
Anyway, huge semester for concerts.
3/3 Dropkick Murphys/Strung Out, Stubb's, Austin
3/16 Motorhead, Stubb's, Austin (again!)
3/26 Megadeth/Testament/Exodus, Stubb's, Austin
4/26 Overkill/Vader/Evile/Warbringer, Emo's, Austin
4/28 COHEED AND CAMBRIA, Stubb's, Austin
5/11 Cannibal Corpse/Skeletonwitch, Emo's (?), Austin
6/6 Obituary, Emo's, Austin
And Eyehategod is playing Austin sometime in May. Fuck. Yes.

Nice list, it pays to live in Austin. Motorhead certainly lived up to their motto. I shouldn't say that they were too loud, rather than my ears weren't built to handle such an onslaught.

I actually live in San Antonio for school (but I'm originally from the Austin area), but when it comes time for shows, we just drive down. This is an unusually good year, though, usually Austin's metal scene is pretty weak in comparison to San Antonio's, Houston's, and Dallas's.

i just hated the venue. it was a bar, and the bar was actually nice, but the city sucked. it was in scottsdale (snobsdale) and i just hate going there. i feel judged every second i am there. i just dont feel accepted. i wasnt even wearing a loud obnoxious hawaiian shirt, so, fuck scottsdale

I just saw Gov't Mule a couple weeks ago, and besides having a 4 hour set, it was pretty epic.

Exodus, Testament, and Megadeth! Woo! During Exodus, I got trampled in the mosh, and thanks to that, it hurts to move right now, but I'd like to say, as soon as I got back up, I got right back into it, I stayed in the pit for about half of Testament, and I stayed in for all of Megadeth until I had to leave to throw up. Woo!!

I missed Slayer and Megadeth when they came through here last... June? That was a pretty big disappointment.

I was at Coachella, which was all kinds of awesome.
Bands I saw
First Day: The Specials, Passion Pit, Imogen Heap, Jay-Z, deadmau5
Second Day: Jason Bentley, Band of Skulls, Dirty South, Bassnectar, MGMT, Muse, Tiesto*
Third Day: The Glitch Mob, Club 75, Infected Mushroom*, last 15 minutes of Phoenix, last 30 minutes of Pavement**, Gorillaz
It was a lot of fun. Sly Stone had a break down though, which is both funny and depressing.
*front row, or as close to front row as GA can be
** to wait for the Gorillaz

Just got back from an overnight trip to Albuquerque a few hours ago. We saw Mastodon, Between the Buried and Me, Baroness, and Valiant Thor.
They played pretty well, but whoever was running the sound boards did an awful job, not to mention the venue isn't really built for music that loud. Most of what I heard in every song was the kick drum. There were times when supporting vocalists were louder than the main one. I only heard bass during really, really quiet sections (mainly BTBAM). The vocalist for Valiant Thor had what I thought was a funny quote before their last song, "Sometimes, you have to take off your mask and eat some candy."
Even though we had already paid, we were guestlisted because my roommate is friends with one of their roadies. We couldn't get the money back, but no big deal. We talked to Brent from Mastodon and the guitarist from Baroness at a bar next to the venue. They were pretty cool. They had a beer there that tasted like marijuana called Jackalope. It was good, but still weird.
The staff at the venue were terribly unprofessional. You couldn't bring lighters or cigarettes into the venue and we took a cab from our motel room, so we couldn't just put them in the car, so we had to discard them basically. I mean, I can understand a lighter, but cigarettes? What's the point in that? Worse than that, they had a bunch of fucking Camel ads with spotlights highlighting them all over the arena. They were for the smokeless Snus, but it was still a terrible tobacco reminder. Also, everyone was frisked upon entrance. Woo.
On top of that, I didn't sleep the night before. I lost track of time and it got to the point where I figured I'd stay up, although I got an hour of sleep in the car on the way there, so I was already miserable and tired, especially after the cigarette/groping ordeal. Then the sound sucked, so that bothered me.
We got out and there were two douchebags yelling at each other next to the doors. They started fighting. We were across the street on benches, so we watched, as four of the staff standing outside. They started slapping each other or whatever for a while and were breathing on each other on the curb with their fists. Then the staff starts pulling them apart and one of them kicks one of the douchebags in the face while another is pulling him up. What a cheap shot!
That all broke up eventually. While we were outside, we were panhandled three or four times. When we were in the cab on the way back to the motel room, I made a comment about the panhandlers and the cabbie said that was pretty common in downtown. A lot of druggies, generally crack and heroine. He said the same guy asked him twice.
Needless to say, our experience wasn't the most pleasant ever, but it had its moments. We also got a flat tire on the way back. Luckily, we in town when it happened. We just slapped on the spare and took it to a garage to get a new tire. We also went to the Great Sand Dunes. That was absolutely amazing. They're just so damn tall. I didn't expect them to be upwards of 750 feet high.
All in all, it was a pretty damned fun trip.

That should be my last concert, but they couldn't make it to Denver because of the weather. So my last concert was Rush at Red Rocks. Before that was Behemoth/Dimmu Borgir a couple of years ago, which has an interesting story.
I went with a foreign exchange student from Potugal. We didn't get in at first because he forgot his ID. I could've gone in without him, but that would have been a real dick move, especially since Dimmu Borgir is his favorite band. We wandered around night-time Denver for a while, sold our tickets, ate some Wendy's, then we walked back to the entrance. The security chief was baffled as to why I didn't go in without my friend and decided to let us in. Then she asks for our tickets. We told her we sold them, so she let us in without them. All we missed was the opening act and a small bit of Behemoth's set. Also this was my first Mosh Pit, and I accidentally bit a guy on the arm. Good times.
Concerts I've Seen (In Order):
Weird Al (1998? It was the Running with Scissors tour)
Alice Cooper (2005)
Cinderella/Poison (2006)
Behemoth/Dimmu Borgir (2007)
Ted Nugent (2008)
Rush (2009)
Upcoming Concerts:
Queensryche 9/2/2010
Silversun Pickups/Muse 10/2/2010

The next concert I go to will probably be American Carnage in St. Paul in August.
Megadeth, Slayer, and Testament.

Last show I saw live was Mars Volta and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Volta was great, Peppers not so much. Best show I've ever seen is a tie between Slint in their hometown of Louisville and Bad Religion with Green Day as an opener. Not a GD fan anymore, but Bad Religion was tight.

Saw Metallica week and a half ago... I've seen them before but i only went cause bands very rarely roll through here who are worth seeing. They played two nights, the set was alright i thought we were kinda screwed over since i thought the set the first night was miles better than the one we got but meh can't complain.
Seeing Pearl Jam on June 23rd, seen them before as well and hopefully it should be a good show unless they play loads off their new album which is total shit.
