Jay just gave his take on the situation tonight. I'll post the clip when it becomes available. He didn't tear into anyone, but it seemed to be an honest, candid explanation of what happened.

Letterman is wrong. People, including former Conan writer Louis CK, have suggested that Conan never needed the Tonight Show and shouldn't have pushed for it.

^ Letterman has a point though. When NBC dumped Leno, why did he stick around at all when he could of easily went and got another job at 11:30 on another network? To me, Leno comes off as a major pushover who let NBC toss him aside because they "didn't need his late night ratings anymore".

Everybody should leave NBC. They don't deserve to get any ratings after creating this debacle.

Well as Leno explains, he agreed to stay because he got to keep his entire staff. He might have found more money or success elsewhere, but he would have put the majority of his staff out of work.

Any guesses on where Conan will end up?

The rumor is his show will be a half hour before Letterman and Leno start, so that paired with all the attention this whole thing is getting, I see him lasting a long long time over there...if it happens.

When was the last time anything good came on FOX after 10PM? I hope he does well, for sure.

also here is a good article from 1994 on how Leno got the Tonight Show originally

I can't imagine Jay Leno being very successful when he returns to the Tonight Show past the first few weeks or so. People have been inflicting a lot of shame and guilt on him.

The King of Comedy has left The Tonight Show Sad

Screw you Leno. I hope NBC needs a bailout thanks to Zucker.

You assume we want to give our funds to NBC.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas.

Since Conan has to sit out his contract for awhile and has lots of freetime, rumors are that the WWE is trying to contact Conan to get him on RAW for a guest host shot, or even something more.

Like he said in the show haha, he can't host a show but there is nothing in there about Andy hosting one with a sidekick.

I've been lurking this thread for a few days trying to think of something to add, but I just can't make myself give two shits about this situation. Does that make me a bad person? Sad
