Alrighty, so I'm planning on buying a Strat after Christmas, and I finally settled on an Electron Blue Strat with a maple neck. My only problem is that I've heard negative comments on Mexican-built Strats. I'm not looking for this to be my #1 guitar, I just need something that doesn't have the heavy Gibson sound like my other guitars. So I was wondering if anyone here has used Mexican Strats and if it's a particularly bad idea to get one.

Here's a pic for those interested:

Actually, up to a few years ago, Mexifenders were considered to be just as good as, if not better than some USA Fenders (This speaks more to the quality of the Mexes, not to the lack of quality in the Americans). Since then, American Fenders have gotten better, but Mexifenders are still very good deals. I think it's just a lot of stereotyping about the standards of Mexican industry that resulted in bad press, because I've heard nothing but good things about them.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

MexiStrats are great guitars.

Read up here on plenty of reviews on them. The average rating users give is an 8.6/10.

This, I never had any complaints from the people I sold Mexis to when I worked for Guitar Center. My personal preference is for the Japanese Fenders, but there's nothing bad about the Mexis at all. They're quite solid.

I fucking did it. I paid my first monthly payment of $50. I now own a Fender Stratocaster. Unfortunately it's black, as red and blue are discontinued, but it is brand spanking new out of the box, and it has the nicest neck I have ever played!

I've always loved the necks on Fenders. I own a Mexican J-bass, and I prefer it over my USA Musicman when I'm playing music that requires me to move around the fretboard a-lot.
