I know not all high schools do this but I figured most did. I graduated in '02 and most of my friends voted for "Soak up the Sun" by Sheryl Crow because it would have been fucking hilarious. But no, somehow "Wish you were here" by Pink Floyd became our graduation song and it was dumb. Not only does it not really reflect anything about our class but it's also slow and boring and not fitting for a graduation. Not that it's not a good song, but shit man, I also like "The Flame" by Cheap Trick but I don't want it played at my funeral.
Anyways, what was your class song?

Imagine by Lennon... Though the Jazz Choir sang it and murdered it... Thing is, Why the hell did we have a song from way back then and not of 2007?

I have no fucking clue. If it was up to me, it would have been "Carry On, Wayward Son" by Kansas.
Our favorite song as voted in the yearbook, was November Rain. All the girls were voting for some gay boy band shit, so one day in AP English, I was like, "Fuck this, guys. We should all vote for November Rain so that we don't end up with N'Sync as our favorite song." And the guys in my English class were all like "fuck yeah!". And it just sort of spread from there.
Ours was 'Graduation' by... I think the group was called vitamin c. Idk but it was such an obvious choice. I was rather disappointed our student council was that lazy. But the chicks were hot

Our class of 2000 (I think it was that year) had that for their graduation song too.

Myself and a few others wanted the Imperial March from Empire Strikes Back, but of course that got shot down and the school used the traditional graduation song instead.
"Anybody who ever built an empire, or changed the world, sat where you are now. And it’s because they sat there that they were able to do it."
"Fighting in a basement offers a lot of difficulties, number one being, you're fighting in a basement."
"You're Not So Tough Without Your Veggie!"

Haha.
Yeah the class after us had the "Time of your life" song too. Gayyy.
That song should only be used in combination with "Seinfeld" cast members joking around with each other.

I think all of us 2000 grads were stuck with that.

Please. We all know your graduation song was Pass The Maple Syrup, Eh? (What's This Aboot Remix), followed by God Save The Queen.
Strangely, ours was "Freshmen", I think by the Verve, I dunno. Either somebody didn't listen very hard or apparently everyone in my senior class was pretty maladjusted. I suggested "Contort Yourself" by James Chance and the Contortions, but just like in Ace Combat, I got shot down.
Who likes role-playing games? Me. Way too goddamn much.

I honestly didn't remember what my graduation song was, but now that you mentioned that one, I'm pretty sure that was mine too, way back in 1998. I do rmemeber hating that they chose that one. I mean, how cheesy and lame can you get?
On the other hand, the real title of the song is "Good Riddance", not Time of Your Life, so I guess it's appropriate after all.

Oh boy, do I have a story!
Our four finalists were 'Freebird' by the mighty Skynyrd, 'Here I Go Again' by Whitesnake, 'Life Is A Highway' by Tom Cochrane, and 'We're fucking fagbags' by Rascal Flatts.
I campaigned like a motherfucker for Freebird. I begged everyone to vote for Freebird. But what song did the wannabe-redneck-cowboys-and-girls of this shithicktown pick? Rascal fucking Flatts.
BUT! At our prom, they played that song during the grad video montage (featuring only student council members), followed by 'Life Is A Highway'. So that kinda made choosing a song pointless.
AND! What was the only one of the four songs that actually got played during the dance? 'Freebird', thanks to numerous requests. Not only did this mark my first ever slow dance, but once the song started picking up, I walked out to the middle of the floor, and air-guitared the whole solo. People formed a circle.
Let's see, we had a selection of two songs, "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas, and "Stay Young" by We the Kings. I voted for "Dust in the Wind", because, I don't know, it's actual respectable music and not some poppy whiny vapid shallow mass-marketed crap. Lo and behold, our class song is going to be:
Of all the stereotypically cheesetastic shallow empty unprofound.....RGH!!

Ours was some song a band performed.
I was too busy seething to pay attention, but the band's name was Cookies And Milk, and I distinctly remember trying to kill someone.

Your song should have been the theme from Good Times.
Waiting in a chow line! GOOD TIMES!
Temporary lay-offs! GOOD TIMES!
"I Hope You Dance." I love me some country, but god that song is awful.

I like how some of you had some cool nominations at least. My school has a thing where it has to be a song released senior year. So the year before me used Good Riddance, my year used the stupid fucking sunscreen song, and the year after me used the Graduation song by Vitamin C and soforth. I wish we could have had cool shit. Its bullshit you guys didn't have to have the shit songs. At least if I would have been born premature, I could have had Green Day. But NO.
If I would have had my choice, I woud have gone with the obvious Alice Cooper song. Or even sticking with my graduation year, Fly Away by Lenny Kravitz would have been better. Prom could have even been like the Fly Away music video.
