Actually, Tex Avery created Egghead, who evolved into Elmer.

Also, the early designs for Bugs Bunny and Elmer were hideous.

I was basically just summarizing things. Tex did a lot of good things, him and Clampett were my favorites.

I disagree about Elmer. At least he was drawn almost as an every man. I know they didn't always do it later on, but the fact that they always had him dressed up as a hunter when I prefered him in a white shirt and derby, but that's just me.

I hate the derby so much. I enjoy the early cartoons because they're funny, but I enjoy the later animation style more.

I don't know. While I like the later design of Daffy, I prefer the earlier version of Porky.

And while I like the later Elmer, I just hate that they always wasted time drawing him as a hunter when he clearly had a life out of it. I actually prefer when Elmer was more of an authority figure, like when he kept attempting to give his flea ridden dog a bath (then the cat commits suicide with a gun).

Also Speedy Gonzales is another Tune that I did not care for one bit. It was the Frito Bandito meets Road Runner.

I think you have that a bit backwards, considering that the Frito Bandito came at least 10 years after Speedy.

It doesn't matter what came first, they were voiced by the same person. I was simply making the point; stereotype meets established character.

I'm still amazed they played some of the Bugs cartoons where he is depicted as a buck toothed asian when I was a kid.

Injuns also got some pretty racist treatment on LT. There was one cartoon where Bugs was singing "Ten Little Indians" while killing them from a frontier fort

Speedy is not considered racist by Hispanic people and when Warner Bros. pledged a voluntary ban on him at the turn of the century, the Hispanic community rose up in protest. Speedy is a positive character. He's agile, cunning, and often pithy. His drunk, sleepy friends and cousins though? SUPER RACIST.

Yeah a lot of those old cartoons were racist as all hell.

I too prefer the early Porky, the new one has no pants and that's creepy.

Well, cartoons are geared torwards 8-12 year olds (that's a ballpark) anymore these days. I myself am 17, and I'm happy with your South Parks and Family Guys. You guys aren't exactly the audience for these shows anymore. Although Looney Toons and such can entertain adults, this isn't the goal of modern cartoons. IIRC, most cartoons, like Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies started in the Depression era, so cartoons were geared more towards a universal audience, wrought by poverty and other issues of that era.

TL;DR: Grow up.

It should be. I think if something is meant for one and one audience alone it just speaks to the limited ability of the people behind it.

Things like Looney Tunes and Animaniacs are still enjoyable, if not more so since they are to an extent directed towards adults. The jokes I didn't get as a kid are absolutely hilarious now. And nothing is more enjoyable than going back to something and finding a new reason to enjoy it.

Then I guess people who build wheelchair ramps are terrible builders because they don't make staircases. Not everything can be for a universal audience. I suppose cartoons could be, but is it really that much of a loss?

The thing about a wheelchair ramp is that no matter what you do, it is going to be generally the same every time..you can do a hell of alot more with a staircase, and a problem is these guys don't even know how to make a good ramp anymore...for the most part there is zero originality and risk taking which result in a ton of mediocre shows. That's fine to have those shows but when that becomes the market norm, it becomes vastly more difficult to break away from it and be original and still retain backing from investors/Studios without getting canceled after the first season (if you are lucky to get that far).

You can walk on a wheelchair ramp you know, so it's actually a perfect example. Clearly thought of with a specific group in mind but not inaccessible to others.

Well, in all honesty, it could be worse. At least not all of Cartoon Network's shows are shitty reality shows. . . yet. . .

But Cartoon Network changed a hell of a lot since the 90s. I still remember watching Cartoon Cartoons like it was yesterday.

I remember when Cartoon Network showed nothing but cartoons

And while I enjoyed SOME of Adult Swim, I must say the joy of having sleep overs and staying up all night and watching "Dexter's Labratory" or "Cow and Chicken" far exceeded anything Adult Swim ever contributed.

I agree with you on that statement, Doddsino.

I also remember watching Space Ghost: Coast to Coast a lot with my friends on Saturday nights. That show was also really awesome.

Yeah, Space Ghost was good stuff.

The only problem I have, is it led into many other shows trying to follow the same kind of humor, which only worked with maybe 2 or 3 shows, everything was just awful.
