I've had at least two instances in my life where I learned a word before I should have learned it.
At about 8 or 9, my family was in the car, while we waited for my mom to finish using the bathroom at a Dairy Queen (this was a road trip). Anyway, I notice one of the smaller signs below Dariy Queen and ask my dad what a "brazier" was, he told me it was a bra. I disagreed and this went back and forth about 3 times before he finally looks me in the eyes and asks "Okay Ryan, why isn't it a bra?" and then I point at the sign. Red-faced he just says "It's like a torch"
At age 9 or 10 (whatever would put me in 3rd grade), I played my mom in a game of Scrabble and spelled "horny," figuring it must describe something with horns. She asked me if I knew what it meant and I gave her my responce, to which she corrected me by saying "it means you want sex badly."
Anyone have anything similar to share?
