So when I go shopping for CDs I usually have a few I look for, like new releases by favorite artists, or maybe fleshing out a collection, whatever. I also will pick random metal albums, in the hopes that I'll find something new and cool to listen to.

So I picked up a CD by a band called Pungent Stench. As I was listening to it I started to think, wow these guys are fucking sloppy and slow as shit, this kinda sucks!

Then I look at the back and I see this.

The guitarist has a prosthetic arm! That's actually kind of badass...

Having deduced the mystery of the musicianship I decided to crack the booklet open and see what the lyrics were all about.

The booklet is full of amputee porn WHAT!?

I really want to say Thanks a lot Pungent Stench Mad, but that's what I get for buying random albums without even looking at them isn't it? Confused

I give you a lot of credit for buying a random album. Ya never know what you will get... of course there is a very good chance you will get crap, but at least you got a forum post worth of material out of it.

Geez man, if you have that kind of money to throw away on the retarded idea of buying random albums without even looking at them first, you might as well just give me the money. I'll put it to far better use.

Gotta agree with Pandajuice here...if I see something I'm interested in, I usually try to do my homework first and Youtube them or something. Sometimes it's a problem since you won't find it anywhere. I remember hearing a song one time, and literally googling the damn lyrics to find out what it was, that didn't work, neither did about a dozen other things I did. I finally find the name of the song and album, and see it at the store. I bought it, but outside of maybe 3 songs, I was vastly disapointed by it. The album? Red Harvest by Bloodsimple

Pungent Stench is OK. I downloaded their "Been Caught Buttering" album, and I think it would have been a lot better if the production wasn't so trebly. Very "rockish" death metal with regard to the riffs. If I can recall, the vocals sounded like Dismember, and I love Dismember.

Dismember is so sick. "Like An Everflowing Stream" is a masterpiece of old-school Swedish Death Metal. I need Entombed's "Left Hand Path", too, I only have their "Unreal Estate" album.

I also picked up Deeds Of Flesh's Of What's To Come, which was by far the superior find. Twisted Evil

I see no reason to randomly buy albums, now that you can sample them on Itunes and such nowadays.

I don't like to buy digital music.....I prefer to purcahse CD's still.....but I'll still sample things online to see if I like them or not.

Yeah...I still like the feeling of putting a disc in. I have an Ipod, but I hardly use it.

Yeah I like to be able to open the case and check out the artwork, and enjoy that new CD smell. Digital distribution doesn't do it for me.

I'm always pissed if I buy an album (usually an older album) and it's just a plain CD with black print on it, or the artwork is a bunch of stupid concert stills or maybe just blank pages with credits. What's even more annoying is when they don't print the lyrics.

Hate to ruin this for you guys but Pungent Stench's members have all their working limbs and appendages. I was sorely disappointed because this sort of awesomeness just was begging to be listened to.

You guys might want to take a look at their website.

So that prosthetic arm is just a rubber sleeve? OK, they're back to being slow and boring.

This is from Wikipedia

"Though Pungent Stench is a death metal band, its musical style has also been influenced by rock and blues. Such non-metal influences can be heard on songs such as "Viva la muerte", "Madcatmachopsychoromantik", "Family Man" and "Got MILF?". Schirenc's choice of guitar (he often plays a Fender Telecaster, a rarity among metal guitarists) probably signals these influences."
