Hey guys,
I've been poking around the forums for a couple weeks now, and wanted to know if there were any Grateful Dead fans active in this community. I'm a pretty huge one myself.

I liked "Touch of Greay" but outside of that...never been a huge fan. I was always turned off because out school counselor seemed obsessed with them...and really...who ever follows their school counselor's advice?

I don't really care about them one way or the other.
I do hate deadhead hippies who go on about how great the Dead were, and how they are still bummed about Garcia's death.

Yeah, well my best friends don't charge me $40 to listen to them dick around on guitar for an hour.

Big Grateful Dead fan here. They were great whether they wrote new songs or covered them. I only didn't like them if they were getting too jammy and spaced out, but otherwise "Ripple" is one of my favorite songs of all time.

I really like "Ripple" and "Scarlet Begonias" but pretty much everything else I can totally, like, do without man.

They have some decent tunes. I am most certainly not into the culture though.

They are nowhere near my list of favorites, but I like them well enough.

Ripple and Scarlet Begonias are easily two of my favorite songs as well. And when I say that I really like the dead, I mean I REALLY like the dead. I have just north of 200 gigs of Grateful Dead music stored on my external hard drive. Some of you might call that an obsession (I wouldn't), but hey - one man gathers what another man spills.

I could tell by this username as well, LeshLush.
It's a shame they focused more on live performances than studio albums, because the one Dead show I went to was fucking unbearable but the studio albums are fine.

Well, you know what they say. I'm a Lesh lush and I can't get my Phil.
Do you really think that the studio albums are fine? Workingman's dead and American Beauty are great, and Anthem of the Sun, Aoxomoxoa, Wake of the Flood, and Blues for Allah are alright, but everything else is awful crap. Seriously, listen to Go To Heaven or Shakedown Street and tell me your ears aren't bleeding.

If I were to walk up to you with my hand in the air with all of my fingers out-stretched minus my middle finger, would you know what I needed?

Haha. Awesome. I don't really care for the band, but jesus they have an amazing subculture and if they could focus their efforts on something other than that band, they could probably survive just about anything.

I actually got a few miracle tickets on this past Spring tour, and I can't decide if how I feel about. On the one hand, its ridiculously nerve-wracking knowing that you're about to drive five hours and not even know if you'll be able to get in, but the exhilaration of scoring a ticket for a third of regular price thirty minutes before a show starts is out of this world. That, and it's cool to give ticketmaster the finger whenever you have the chance.
