Anti-Flag. I fucking HATE Anti-Flag. From the cerebellum popping, 12 year old boy sounding vocals, to the completely misguided attempt at being anti government, this band is a prime example of the fall of "Punk Rock" Sad because a lot of the bands that came out around the same time as Anti-Flag have matured into tightly knit, great sounding groups of musicians.

A-fucking-men. I had no idea they were popular now, that's terrible. I heard Fuck Police Brutality on the Cops Make Good Targets compilation (really good if you're into punk). I liked it so I downloaded their album and it was absolutely horrible. I figured I could just listen to the song I liked but hearing their other stuff ruined it for me.

Fourthed. I bought that one EP that they did for victims of violent crime and it was awful. Give me Discharge any day.
I'd also like to say the Cro-Mags. Their debut is available for free on their website, so I downloaded it, and the vocals just got on my nerves and the music wasn't as good as I'd thought it would be, even if some of the faster numbers are pretty good. It wasn't a bad album, just kind of boring in comparison to what I was expecting.
And I'll say Vio-lence because of the vocals, too. (Sorry MOGHARR.) I mean, the riffs are good, but I could just as easily find good riffs in thrash without having a vocalist like Sean Kilian.
I might have mentioned this earlier in this thread, but I'm also going to say black metal as a whole is entirely overrated and has nothing on death or thrash metal.

I don't like Vio-lence... I listened to them once and they seemed okay. Old school BM is great but I think we all agreed on that anyways.

I can see why you'd mention The Clash and U2, but why don't you like Pearl Jam?

The common argument with death is that it all sounds like cookie monster. While I can't disagree on some fronts, and while I like thrash 100x more than death, I actually like, Cannibal Corpse. If Hammer Smashed Face is not for you maybe try a little Make Them Suffer???

I can't remember if i posted on this but overrated bands?

RHCP - Stadium Arcadium was mediocre funk pop, most of it filler the best album they did was with Navarro and they kicked him out (one hot minute). Their early work is just Flea doing fast pop/slap and Kiedis talking shit about his cock or something.

Led Zeppelin - I like Led Zeppelin but they are overrated. They are heralded by some as the best band of all time. It's a shame then that half their albums are filler. They have the hits then just crap they stuck on for the laugh. In through the outdoor is one of the worst albums i've ever heard. Listen to Hot Dog off it... oh my god.

AC/DC - The next few bands i think are overrated for the same reason really. Nearly all their songs sound exactly the same as each other. I was listening to this song "Givin the dog a bone" by them and it sounded near enough like highway to hell. They are one of these bands who releases an album and when they tour just have a greatest hits set list and play maybe one song off the new album just to keep the new fans happy. They release albums as an excuse to tour. Most of their albums have one good song on it apart from maybe "if you want blood you've got it" but it is a live album so its obviously greatest hits.

Van Halen - Same as AC/DC really. Van Halen 1 is a brilliant album. A perfect album i would say with not a bad song on it. It went downhill from here. All the way up to 1984 they were okay and when David Lee Roth left and Hagar joined they just became crap. Cherones work (as much as i love extreme) was pretty damn awful too. They just tour as well with a greatest hits set like AC/DC. The difference is that they don't release an album they are too busy changing line ups. Their lineup changes occur so often they can almost compete with Megadeth.

Rolling Stones - What can i say. Why are they still together. They haven't released anything good since the early 70ish. They tour on the back of a shit album and their sets consist of the hits. Start me up, sympathy for the devil, i can't get no satisfaction, gimmie shelter etc.

Motley Crue - I'm not a fan of these sort of bands, Poison, Twisted Sister etc. The songs are just so cheesy and the make up they wear just annoys me.
I had the video of Girls girls girls on my ipod just so me and mates could laugh at how shit it was. Especially the bit where they walk in and throw the knife on the table. Could it be anymore ridiculous. That sort of stuff is why i hate them.

Motorhead. I could summarise this in three words those being "Killed by Death". Like holy fuck those three words just baffle me.

Led Zeppelin- Half their material is filler, though they do have a few good albums.

Slipknot- I really wanted to like them, but they're only compilation material. They also lack good riffs.

Any Britpop band ever.

Celtic Frosted Flakes- A lot of their songs have really similar riffs (listen to Morbid Tales and you'll see what I mean) and I don't like their guitar tone. I actually like Cold Lake more than their "trve" stuff. Hellhammer's far better and I like their crappy production

Pearl Jam- They seem to be lacking something when compared to Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Mudhoney (from the one album I've heard). To me Mother Love Bone is far better.

Nickelback (and other generic radio rock)- The musical equivalent of dry anal rape. Chad Kroeger sings like he needs some coughdrops and all their songs are identical.

Megadeth- I love them and they're one of my favorite thrash bands, but everyone always drools over them saying they're better than Metallica. That's crap. Metallica has far more hooks and in general is the better band. Countdown to Extinction owns the Black Album, though.

Bon Jovi- The only album I care about is Slippery When Wet.

Red Hot Chili Peppers- I've only heard Stadium Arcadium (at the most), but I'd take Faith No More over these guys any day.

Twisted Sister- They have only two songs worth listening to.

Nine Inch Nails- They used to be one of my favorite bands, then I realized that half of their material is boring quiet crap. Otherwise they're great.

I'd recommend listening to anything off "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" before making that judgment.

Woof, good call. I'd like to throw in Rise Against if you don't mind. Both a great example of how shitty Rolling Stone's musical coverage has gotten over the years, where if you write a political song (even if it's shitty), your album will always be described by their press as "more grown up with politically-charged lyrics." Also, minus 50 points throwing pictures of people with gasmasks on every promotion for your band in an effort to look "politically rebellious."

Maybe they did it because gasmasks are fucking cool?

Ouch. I think they have a decent catalog and other then Eliminator, they were never really considered a part of the top (well, not counting classic rock fans and blues guitarists).

For me:
The Who - the music can be catchy and I don't hate it, but Townsend is not a genius like I hear him made out to be. And Tommy was just strange. Got to love coked-out Elton John in a psychedelic pinball hall.

The Foo Fighters - Don't get me wrong, I like the music. But when I was in middle and high school all I could hear was how great they were, like they were reinventing rock or something. Which probably isn't fair to them because I don't think Dave Grohl went into the project thinking he wanted to do anything but just put out music he likes making.

The Doors - good musicians, good songs, but Jim Morrison was not a genius and he did everything he could to bring the band down.

U2 - enough has been said about them already

R.E.M. - same kind of feeling for them as U2.

I never did really get into either Metallica or Lamb of God, maybe its because my friends shoved a 5 hour marathon of GH: Metallica and then did a tournament in his basement based on how well one could play Laid to Rest. To this day the only 3 Metallica songs I can stand are One, Master of Puppets and Enter Sandman

The Rolling Stones - People often refer to them as "the greatest rock and roll band in the world," but I've always seen them as a third rate R&B band.

U2 is a given.

The Black Crowes - Chris Robinson is such a douche, and they just come off like a bad imitation of Aerosmith.

Nine Inch Nails - Trent Reznor is creative, I'll give him that, but the music just bores me.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Used to enjoy them, but now they just annoy me anytime I hear them on the radio or in a store.

I know Miley Cyrus is not a band but she is getting crammed down the world's throat like something out of Deep Throat. I am getting really tired of her, especially since one of my friends wont shut up about how he's counting the days till she's legal. The guy even has her DS game, that's just wrong.

At least some guys are decent enough to wait Rolling Eyes . . . i'm looking at you Roman Polanski.

Well if we're bringing up Miley Cyrus, might as well throw the Jonas Brothers in there, but their overratedness is almost excusable. They write simple bubblegum pop for the most ADHD, consumeristic, shallow age group there is. Of course they come off as the biggest thing since sliced bread.
