| Smashing Pumpkins - Jackie Blue |
I've never heard of this one, only "Blue". Is it some alternate of this song, or some random studio session song? |
I honestly have no idea where it came from. Every once in a while I go searching for SP b-sides via downloading programs, and I came across Jackie Blue. At first I was skeptical, but then once I heard it, there was no mistaking it; it's definitely Billy Corgan singing, and it sounds like from the Aeroplane Flies High box set. I can e-mail it to you, if ya want.

Please, my email link is displayed below my posts, I believe.
Someone reconstituted the SP audio archive at rspaa.org, a while back, and I still haven't done any searching on it for any good songs that I haven't heard before. Didn't find Jackie Blue there, when I did a quick search.

I have that box set somewhere. I can check. It's a got a shitload of random covers on it. I believe there's a cover of The Car's "You're All I've Got Tonight" on there too.

"Jackie Blue" is a single by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils off the album It'll Shine When It Shines. The song reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1975.
The version appearing on the album has a running time of 4:11, while the single was edited at 3:38.
It was recorded by the Smashing Pumpkins in 1991 as part of the Gish recording, but never officially released. |

From the Gish session, eh? Interesting. Looks like the rspaa does not have those...Or I just can't navigate this thing. Damn, I miss the old audio archive.
Fishbulb? Simpsons reference?

I've found that Gates of Steel by Devo is a rather enjoyable driving song.
