cattle decapitation is mediocre as far as death metal bands go, but the locust USED to be amazing for um what would you call them? post punk? Gabe Serbian is an outstanding drummer.

A quick look at Wiki says that The Locust is a Powerviolence band, with influences from Grindcore and Mathcore, as well as first-wave screamo. It's Wiki, so take that with a grain of salt, but I'm listening to them now, and that sounds about accurate. I wouldn't call them metal at all.
Yeah, their not metal, I was more referring to the fact that Gabe Serbian plays drums for locust and used to play for Cattle Decapitation, he might still actually, I have to look it up. Those guys are always doing side projects.

Another thing about Cannibal.

When Barnes was doing the lyrics there was A LOT of violence towards women, F***ed with a Knife, Stripped Raped and Strangled, Entrails ripped from a Virgin's C**t the list goes on and on and on. It starts to make you think that He may be misogynistic. Not sure if he is. When he departed he went to Six Feet Under and the lyrical themes went with him. On Vile the first album with George I think they decided to step away from that angle and equally abuse everyone not just women, because they had a song called Orgasm through Torture where a woman is butchering men instead of vice versa.

God those song titles are awful, I feel bad just typing them. Sad I'll just use some asterisks instead! Laughing

Here's what I was talking about when I mentioned that they play crazy fast shit like it's nothing check this riffage out. It looks plenty fast and then around the middle a bridge or something kicks in and it gets mind bogglingly fast. Surprised

Damn Blackout, way to write a thesis. Twisted Evil
And is it bad that I find the lyrics to "Hammer Smashed Face" to be pretty tame? At least, compared to "Necropedophile" and "Fucked by a Knife."
Maybe this "interpretation" of the lyrics will soften the blow:

Oh god, I nearly choked to death laughing at that. Laughing

You're right, I can't understand a damn word they're saying, in that or any other song I've sampled of theirs lol. (Which is usually a reason for me NOT to care for a band; in this case I think it actually improves their music Razz ). I can see how these guys could be absolutely wicked live, with a pumped up crowd.

And Blackout...holy shit, that song you posted...my mind is still numb from those riffs. Shocked He almost looks frigging possessed. I thought I was all cool doing TtFaTF on Medium...I now realize how much I suck. Laughing

I just bought Sarcofago's "The Laws of Scourge", and it absolutely slays! Not as good as 80's Sepultura, but still very good. "Piercings' is my favorite off the album so far (not done listening to it yet), that intro is just amazing. I might download "INRI" later, and I'll definitely download the "Crust" EP, just to hear "Fuck Off Melodic Black Metal."
Odd that Wagner Antichrist is an economics professor these days. If I'm ever in Brazil, I'll have to track him down and get a picture with him.

I was tempted to point out that Piece By Piece has many structural elements and tempos reminiscent of Death Metal, but then I remembered that Slayer was before Death Metal so never mind. Razz

While it is true that Slayer wasn't death metal, by the time "Reign" was released, DM was definitely around in the form of Mantas/Death, Sepultura (DM at the time), and Possessed. It didn't kick off until after "Reign", but it was still there. And it was good. I am also obligated to mention Canada's Voor, who played a raw form of deathrash in around '84/'85. Look them up, they absolutely kicked ass.

I'll have to check em out. Remember Autopsy? One of the first DM bands and totally crunchy & heavy. Cool

They only put out one sloppy demo, but I treasure it so. I actually haven't heard any Autopsy, I'll definitely have to get some.
