I excluded Jimmy Hendrix because like I said I was trying to keep this Heavy Metal. Besides, I think he would win and I would like to see peoples opinions on other greats.
My choice was Randy so if you don't see your favorite here it's because he did not survive the previous rounds.

Santana was not included do to his being linked with Michelle Branch one too many times...
Seriously though, I would love nothing than to replace Slash on here. What the F? Too many people playing Guitar Hero these days I guess.

Too many people playing Guitar Hero? That's why you think Slash is on the list still? Come on man, half of us (me excluded actually haha) are old enough to remember when 'Appetite' came out. People's love for Slash's undeniable skill has nothing to do with a video game. He's been famous for way more than 2 years.

It was a joke. I just don't see Slash in the same light as a Randy or Eddie, that's all. I think he is a bit overrated but he did have a nice hat.

Slash. It's the hat. It's magic. He stole it from Frosty.
If it weren't for Eddie, I would have voted for Slash. Nothing to do with Guitar Hero. More to do with the fact that he is fucking awesome. GNR is my all time favorite band (tied with Van Halen) and the solos from November Rain and Sweet Child O' Mine are two of the greatest solos of all time.
As far as Santana goes, I don't care if he joins the Backstreet Boys. Nothing, including his association with Michelle Branch can erase the fact that he is one of the best guitarists of all time. But that's just my opinion.

I will say that there are plenty of guys just as good or better than Slash. But he is up there on the list of greats.

No Petrucci = No Care.
I'll go Van Halen though, even though the outcome is meaningless to me.

Hi five brother! I was the other dude who voted for Iommi, even if I acknowledge Van Halen's greatness.

I went to school with this dude, and he played guitar, and like most of dudes at school, worship death metal and sweep picking. I told him to listen to 'Eruption' if he wanted his mind blown.
He came to school the next day and was like 'that sucked, he made mistakes.'
After getting over the initial shock, I...well, I made sure it was the last knock he'd ever make on greatness.
That's pretty funny. What a douche. Unfortunately, despite being a huge fan, I find that a bunch of fans of death metal are close-minded assmunchers. I did find it interesting that most of the guitarists at your school dig death metal (unless it was really Job for a Cowboy-esque breebree deathcore bullshit). Where I'm from, most people would worship Van Halen, but get a confused look on their face when you mentioned Trey Azagthoth or Chuck Schuldiner. Not that there's anything wrong with worshipping Van Halen. Though I would like to say that Azagthoth and Schuldiner are both amazing guitarists:
(There's like six solos here.)
(A great song full of emotion and musicality. Watch it even if you hate death metal, it'll surprise you.)

I voted Satrani because he is a better player technically then the rest on the list. I love them all, and I am not hating on Eddie or Slash, but where it would get dicey is if you had Yngwie, Satrani, Vai, Petruchi and the like in the finals. Also, no Dimebag Darrell or Cris Oliva, FOR SHAME!!!

I was on another forum and these jokers were making fun of me for the bands I like (GNR, Van Halen, Aerosmith, The Who, Nugent, Synyrd, CCR, Sid Row, Motley Crue, etc). They were pretty much saying anything that wasn't death metal was for pussies. So I played this Pablo Francisco clip. I guess it was funny when they were making fun of my music. But when I played a clip of Pablo making fun of Death Metal, they got seriously pissed.

That's awesome. Do you have the link to the thread you posted it in on the other forum?
