Not so much anymore, but that one Evanescence song that was in almost every trailer for a year or two back in the day. I don't even care to look it up because everyone will know what I'm talking about.
RIP Hacker.

ANYTHING by Smash Mouth. Let's not pull punches here, I manage a nameless videostore (don't talk to me about late fees, or I will shank you in the jaw) that plays music videos from movies old and new, and every couple of months, along comes a Smash Mouth video.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas.

"O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana is an awesome song, but used way to much in trailers and films trying to make them seem more "epic".
"Bodies" By Drowning Pool for every stupid "High Octane Action Film" that comes along.

OOOOOH good one! I am getting pissed off just thinking about it right now! At least my entry, by Greig, is a good song, just annoying in trailers, But that Drowning Pool song is the worst!

Sweet Home Alabama isn't overused, just misused.
And yeah, that 'All-Star' song by Smash Mouth can go eat a dick.
The Star Wars theme...and I'm gonna have to hear that shit again when he puts them all out in 3-D.

As an obnoxious metal phile I find their watered down attempts at heaviness insulting.

I agree 100% on O Fortuna. Great song but used way too much.

Corporate stores, no. Franchise stores... basically they can charge whatever the hell they want. But that doesn't stop anyone, anywhere, from either saying "I have a late fee to pay," or conversely, "I ain't paying no goddamn late fee" when there is uh, well, none there.

I don't know the name of the song, but it's in the trailer for the new Adam Sandler movie and it pisses me off.

"Walking on Sunshine". It always seems to be playing in opening sequences and establishing shots.

"Paper Planes" by M.I.A., which is in the Pineapple Express trailer. Yeah, we get it, a song with gunshots in the chorus, ZOMG!!!!!!11!!!!!!111!! And, thanks to this crapfest that some consider to be a "trailer", most everyone I know thinks M.I.A. is a reggae artist. Great.

Oh man. if I ever have to watch another baby-oriented commercial with an absolutely dreadful cover of this song playing ever again, I swear...heads will roll.

I've posted this before, but when I worked at a video store, I had people threaten to kick my ass, come across the counter, "come down there", etc all over late fees. I worked at one where you had to pay it off before you could rent. There was no of this pay a little now or this "I'll pay it nextime" crap.
Anyhow, I know what you mean about playing videos. We had a thirty minute video that was supposed to play over and over again. If I worked an 8 hour shift, I would have to watch that tape 16 times. I think it was thirty minutes. I may have actually been shorter. But they would play music videos between previews. Some I don't think were even on any soundtracks. I dunno. But any time I hear Survivor by Destiny's Child, I still get pissed.

Coincidentally enough, the one we have now is heavy with Christina Aguilera and Beyonce. I harp for the days when The Pick of Destiny came out, and we had a soundtrack with a Foo Fighters AND a Tenacious D song on it.
Getting back on topic, I've noticed the theme from SAW is popping up in a lot of 'suspense' movie trailers lately. It pisses me off.

I havent seen Pineapple Express (or the trailer), but damn it's well used in Slumdog Millionaire.
