The first movie I ever walked out on and asked for my money back. After roughly 45 minutes I decided to quit caring and elft with my friend.

Nah, the next best thing. It started at 11:50, so by the time we'd walked out they locked up the money and everything. Instead, we got re-admission passes (expires January 31st, 2011 O.O) so the next movie I go see there (probably Valkyrie) won't cost me anything.

Yeah, Frank Miller is starting to become like M. Night Shaymalalananalan.
Ever seen that family guy skit where chris spray paints "That's enough, John Mayer"? I just want to say "That's enough, Frank Miller".

I liked 300. Sin City's mixed stories left me with mixed levels of interest depending on who was the main character at the time (I liked Brucre Willis' more than Rourke's). The Spirit was just...dissapointing, even if Miller plays a cop that dies.

I'm a big Frank Miller fan, but the Spirit doesn't interest me in the least. Sin City 2 however, will be highly anticipated by myself.
It's strange, but the Spirit seems like such a ripoff of Sin City, despite the fact that it has the same writer. Maybe it's because Rodriguez didn't direct it.

Yea, I used to manage a movie theatre, and even if the money wasn't locked up, they wouldn't give you the money back. We used to tell people who complained about a movie and wanted their money back that the movie sucking is a risk you take when you buy a ticket, and that the movie theatre isn't responsible for a crappy movie. If people insisted and were uppity, then we'd give them those free passes.
The only way you'd get it back is if the film broke or the sound was broken or some other technical problem that was the theatre's fault.
Anyway, on topic, I liked 300 too, but found Sin City a confused mess of a movie, and I'm reading that The Spirit is the same in that regard. Frank Miller has clearly gone insane based on his recent Batman comics, so shouldn't be trusted to direct a movie.

Could you please elaborate? It seemed fairly coherent and well put together to me. I'm being serious.. did I miss something?

You know what movie didn't make any sense? Creepshow. I don't understand what Leslie Nielsen drowning Ted Danson had to do with that guy who didn't like bugs or that guy who found the meteor. They should have made it one linear story, and there should have been a narrator who explained everything as the movie went along so that I didn't get so confused.

QFT. Much like on South Park, you'd have to go get your money back from Mel Gibson, er, Frank Miller. The theater didn't make the movie so I have no idea what fucking right you think you have to demand money back from them.
On topic, the first time I saw the trailer I thought at first that it was Sin City 2. The style is completely wrong for The Spirit. I haven't read any spoilers of the movie, but the trailers seem to make it pretty clear that The Spirit died, then came back with like super powers or something, which is very much not the case. He faked his own death at one point, but he was just a dude.

There are alot of movie trailers that have fake review quotes in them, but yes this movie is actually looking to perhaps be one of the worst of 2008.

Yup, I got what I expected out of AVP. Also, AVP was followed up with Sweeney Todd.

this boggles the mind.
you were expecting a terrible film that smashes apart all precedence set by prior alien and predator mythos, yet got mad or disgusted enough with the spirit to walk out?

Will Eisner signed his name the same way as Walt Disney, COINCIDENCE!?
In the 1980s, Disney appointed a new CEO. His last name? Eisner. COINCIDENCE!?

Well to be honest, I can't really remember exactly enough to elaborate having seen the movie a few years ago, and my mind being a seive. All I recall though is that I was bored and confused by the multiple story lines (only the Bruce Willis one being interesting, yet brief) that didn't seem to be part of one overarching story.
I'd like to watch it again though and really focus on it. Maybe I missed something the first time around.

So in short, most of the forum can say the movie is not worth seeing? My old man saw sin city and thought it was cool. But their was something about the trailer for the spirit that told him it was crap.
I'm always getting suckered into movies by the trailers . . . let me ask this:
Is the trailer more entertaining then the movie . . . and i don't mean entertaining as in "so bad it's good"

Maybe you should see the movie because you don't want it to get the shit kicked out of it by "Owen Wilson and pet dog hijinks: The Movie" box office wise.

Syd I thought I was the only one that owned and new the Creepshow movies. I also agree, though I was glad for the drowning it didn't make one damn bit of sense.

It wasn't meant to make sense. That's the point. That's the one with the crazy monkey under the stairs right?
You want to see a movie that tried to make sense but didn't watch Troll/Troll 2. It's called Troll but they call the guys Goblins, and it's crap, funny, but crap.

Was Creepshow the movie that had the bit with the teenagers stuck on a raft in the middle of the lake because there was a killer oil slick in the water?
