Seeing as were are doing threads about metal, I thought some Alt Prog Metal may be in order. I love Dream Theater, ok the lead singer is, well he is, but musically they are awesome. Discuss.

Agreed. Dream Theater is the band that made me realize that there is good metal oh so many years ago. I like the singer's voice, for the most part, but I generally prefer the music anyway, as with most bands. Dance of Eternity is my favorite song by them. Unfortunately, I haven't really dug through their catalog, which I intend to do with a lot of bands, someday.

RIP Hacker.

My favorite is Peruvian Skies off of falling into infinity. I wish I had the picture my buddy got to get a picture with Portnoy after a show in Philly.

Edit: I forgot to mention there album Awake, was my first album of their's, and as with all over their work, kicks major ass.

Dream Theater's been on my "to buy" list for a looooong time. I really dig "Ytse Jam" and "Pull Me Under", and now I'm listening to "Constant Motion". From what I've heard, I'd say they sound like a mixture of Metallica and Rush, which is very, very good, and I love their musicianship that I've heard (especially on "Ytse Jam"). I've been meaning to check out more progressive metal in general, pretty much the only stuff I own that qualifies is Cynic and Queensryche.
