I just saw Wanted on DVD last night.
While I'm not necessarily a huge fan of the ending, I did enjoy the movie.
I'd call it a fun B movie.
It felt like a mix of Crank, The Matrix, Batman Begins, and Fight Club.
Why these movies?
Crank: Fast non stop action
The Matrix: Bullet time
Batman Begins: The Fraternity
Fight Club: The introspection and character growth
Anyone else see it?

**this post contains vague spoilers, but the movie sucks so it doesn't matter**
This movie was shit. And I'm not saying that as an angry comic book fan, because I've never read Wanted. The plot was retarded, the action was mostly boring, and the whole "curving the bullet" bullshit was severely overused. The only good part was when the main character goes on a rampage at the end because it was well choreographed, but even that got really old by the end of that scene.
Oh yeah, the entire explaination for why they can do what they do is stupid. They're supposed to actually be costumed heroes and villains with super powers as I understand it, which makes more sense. If your heart beat 400 times a second, you'd fucking die considering they don't have any other powers. Also, that entire thing about the loom was entirely made up for the movie. It was so utterly shitty that I assumed it had to have been in the comics and they refused to drop it, but no. 9 times out of 10, Hollywood = fail.

I didn't even know it was a comic.
I agree that the curving bullet thing was overused, and not as cool of a concept as the director might have thought.
Still, I am glad they weren't in costumes.
The loom is stupid, but any explanation they would have given would have been equally stupid.
Suspend disbeleif and go with it. That was my take on it. You die if your heart beats 400 times per minute... but you also die if you are in a train that falls hundreds of feet into a mountain side.
Also, the keyboard to the face was priceless.

I was thinking about that bit the other day when something occurred to me: if I recall correctly, don't the letters that freeze in mid-air spell out "FUCK YOU"? 'Cause if so, where'd he get the second "U" from?

The second 'U' is spelled out by one of the guy's teeth. (EDIT: 42 seconds too late.)

I quite liked the Wanted comics, but I am unsure if this movie is worth seeing. Anyone think it would be worth it, your decision being predicated on me already liking the comic?

Haven't seen the movie but why is the comic utter shit? What about the premise of essentially the bad guys won but have to maintain things? Any actually instances you don't like, or just a bad opinion, based purely on, without anything to site directly?

oh I don't know probably the gritty, dark dialogue there for the purpose of being ~gritty and dark~ the use of rape as a tool for the main characters emotional empowerment, the fact that there is a giant monster made of shit or the fact that in his attempt to create a comic book that wasn't a 'teenage power fantasy' he made a comicbook filled with curse words, drugs, rape and gore, which teenagers are pretty much the only people that are interested in that kind of shit.
Also the writer is a total hack :I

I honestly think it's the worst movie I've ever seen, and I've seen some stinkers (think stuff that puts MST3K movies to shame). It just seems like the director didn't have anything original, so he took an 80's action movie, old Matrix special effects, Mike Judge criticism of the mundane, and Tarrantino/Kevin Smith-profanity and made into one big movie for 15-year-old boys (Even before the inclusion of Jolie).
Yeah, and I decided to read the comic afterwards because someone told me they really botched it up, I am Legend-style. Kojjiro called it, total hack.

God damnit, I just bought this for my brother-in-law for Christmas. He said he liked it, and I was looking forward to watching it...
But then again, I like a lot of shit other people hate on. Haters.

I think that the negative comments posted above are extreme for this movie.
It is a fun movie to watch and unless you are overly critical, it isn't horrible.

It wasn't that bad, aside from the loom crap and the ending, i thought it was OK. Like GPF said, unless you're highly critical, it isn't horrible.

I just watched it, and the earlier comments suggesting it could be the worst movie this year or EVER are ridiculous. It wasn't bad at all. Pretty entertaining. 6/10 or so.

Totally agree that the movie isn't complete shit. I just watched it today and actually enjoyed it. Especially the keyboard to the face part. I also actually kinda liked the ending.

No, it's shit. It's not being overly critical. It's a terrible movie that gets way too much hype.

I hate to be a downer but I think office space did that already:
or is it from wanted, I havent seen wanted yet. And judging from what i've heard from this thread and people on campus, the movie isn't worth seeing.

That is from the movie. The first part of the movie is like office space condensed and stripped of the funny or insight.
