buy the one that plays the movie

but in all seriousness, it only depends on what you will do w/the movie. meaning, will you actually sit there and watch all the extra bonus crap.

i know i always buy the special edition, but i never get to watch the extra crap. maybe once in a blue moon ill watch all the extras, but its rare that i actually do.

I think you made the decision more difficult.

I only buy special/collector's editions for movies that I'm wild about, and that I'm sure I'll enjoy the special features, even if I watch them only once.

For example, I bought the special editions of all my favorite Trek movies, and Batman Begins, and have pre-ordered the special edition of the Dark Knight. However, for a movie like 300, I bought the bare-bones edition, because it's just an enjoyable popcorn movie for me, so I didn't need to see all the crazy documentaries on converting it from the graphic novel or whatever.

For Fight Club, the only reason I bought the Collector's Edition though, was because it was the only version I could find at the time, though.

I got the steel case one just because I think the cover looked better. When there are multiple versions I just go with the one that I think looks better in my collection.

This basically, I never really watch extra features.

The steelbook and collectors edition are the same just with different cases. And the single disc version carries the special features from disc one of the two disc version commentaries in this case.

theres a review of the two disc version

I just thought it was an OK, mediocre book but a completely shitty movie.

I'm almost positive no one here agrees with me so whatever.

Movie is awful. I'm not sure which is worse, the movie itself or the fact that so many people miss the point of the shitty movie.

Fight Club isn't necessarily a bad movie, but it's one of the most overrated movies of all time. Case in point: Empire's recently published lists of the 500 Greatest Films and 100 Greatest Movie Characters. In no way does Fight Club deserve to be so high up that list. And how you can crown Tyler Durden as the greatest movie character of all time while Rambo or Charlie Chaplin's Tramp don't even make the list is beyond me.

Fight Club is NOT overrated. It is a great movie that deserves to be categorized as one of the great movies of all time. I don't think it is #1 of all time, but it is among the top films.

No doubt, it is easily misunderstood, but so are many other great movies.

I don't think that Tyler Durden is the greatest character of all time, but he represents something that a piece of all of us wishes we could let out.

I like this movie, but like any greats it gets fucking old after you have watched it more than 20 times. Seeing how Pitt is today kinda ruins the image he had going on in this movie.

Most movies get old after watching them more than once.

Also it is bullshit to call out a performance that predates the actor's unappealing public image. He made the movie, it was awesome, he got older and made new choices.

I thought that Barf was an awesome character in Space Balls, but now that he is dead... I don't know... it kinda ruins the image he had going on in the movie. BULL SHIT. BULL SHIT. BULL SHIT.

I think people just enjoy the ride and how much they can identify with the frustration with modernity more than they get behind the anti-consumerism message with its biggest payoff in the final scene.

I enjoy the movie, in fact, in my American social & cultural history class in grad school, I even wrote a midterm paper on how it, American Beauty, and Donnie Darko each fight modern American authority, or the "establishment."

Hilariously, that's the same class that I wrote a historiography of the study of Star Trek for my final paper. Gee, I took a lot of worth while classes in grad school. Who needs political and military history, right?

Well, quite frankly, this movie was hardcore even if it was not the best movie ever made. After watching the movie, I can only just remember all of my friends deciding to get together every tuesday night to beat the snot out of eachother. It didn't pan out.

I'd fight Ghandi or Abe Lincoln for a Fight Club DVD.
