So I have this thing where I have a playlist of an artist consisting of damn near their entire catalogue (in chronological order), and I like to pound through each artist alphabetically. Though lately just to keep things interesting, I've been wanting to try it on shuffle. The artist I'm on right now is Pink Floyd, and this one is a little complicated, being that you have bookend songs like Pigs on The Wing, and, to an extent Shine On You Crazy Diamond, and hearing say, parts 6-9 before 1-5 would be a little weird to say the least...I don't know, what do you guys think?
There are a lot of what if's in life Donny. What if I hit you really hard in the face, knocked yo shit to the back of yo skull? What if I....had you girl gargle my nuts? The fact remains, you are a fuckin mutant.

Remove everything from The Wall, and we're talking.

If you have heard all the songs on all the albums at least once and you have heard how it was suppose to flow, then there is nothing wrong with shuffling. But if you haven't, than I would suggest listening to them in order first.

I have Pink Floyd on my regular shuffle WinAmp playlist, so yeah, it's fine.
I recommend listening to each album from start to finish before shuffling. The albums tell a story and aren't very long so there's no excuse. However, the songs by themselves can be a pleasure to listen to on their own. Dark side is optimal when listened from start to finish, but is fine shuffled as well. Animals should be listened straight through as should Wish you were here. Those albums are short enough to listen to in one sitting (about 40 mins long.). The other albums i'm not as familiar with so I'm not the guy to ask....
For me, it depends on the album. If it's an album of singles that don't really have a connection, then I'll shuffle, but if it's a concept album like Zen Arcade or Lamb Lies Down, or a coherent album, then I listen in order.
So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

And I thought this thread was about Pink Floyd and shuffling.....
unless you never heard it in order, then you should listen to it in order.

Well, whole albums are kind of chronologically thematic when it comes to Floyd. Echoes would be a good compilation to shuffle. Piper or Saucerful would be OK, but The Wall might not be up to par. I used to have 'Hey You', 'Time', and 'Comfortably Numb', on a CD once, just those songs, in that order. I had that CD in my work rotation for about 6 months. Gilmour's guitar will pull you through, regardless of Waters' lyrical themes.
