This is kind of a weird idea, but I enjoy rewriting song lyrics, sometimes for parody purposes, sometimes just because. So I thought, why not rewrite old songs to make them more topical? Here are a few

Bruce Springsteen - "Born In The USA"

Original:
Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man

Topical:
Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to Afghanistan
To go and kill the Taliban


Don Henley - "The End of the Innocence"

Original:
Oh beautiful for spacious skies
But now those skies are threatening
They're beating plowshares into swords
For this tired old man we've elected king

Topical:
Oh beautiful for spacious skies
But now those skies are threatening
They filled us up with empty words
For this phony young man we've elected king

I actually do this a lot, but I can't remember any of the songs I do it to. Confused


There are a lot of what if's in life Donny. What if I hit you really hard in the face, knocked yo shit to the back of yo skull? What if I....had you girl gargle my nuts? The fact remains, you are a fuckin mutant.

I rewrote the lyrics to Voor's "Untitled" when Mavericka (my band) covered it, because you couldn't make out the words in the original. I retitled it "Death Envelops", and I'll post my lyrics later, but I'm a bit busy now. I also changed the lyrics to Pantera's "Cemetary Gates" to be about Dime's death. R.I.P.
