German "A Cappella Metal" Band Van Canto covers Metallica's "Battery":

Call me close-minded, but it is my firm belief that YOU CANNOT HAVE METAL WITHOUT INSTRUMENTS! They're good singers, but they just remove the toughness, the heaviness, and the balls that this totally awesome song had. Well, you be the judge. Watch the video above, then watch this video from 1989:

Continuing, here's their cover of "The Trooper":

I like how half the crowd's just like Laughing , and the other half is asleep.
What do you guys think? Am I just picky, or does this band really blow goats?

I love a cappella. I dig Rockappella and DaVinci's Notebook, and I also love singing a cappella with people in real life, but a cappella metal is lacking. A cappella better translates with songs that have more of a melodic presence than a rhythmic presence, which is a majority of metal. I can definitely appreciate the talent that goes into going a metal a cappella cover, but I can't fully enjoy it because of the lack of melody... but then again, I have the same issue with the original as well.

What I want to see is an a cappella cover of something crazy, like Dance of Eternity by Dreamtheater. Bam!

RIP Hacker.
