Well, you aren't gonna hear much on Smallville from me. Its one of my favorite shows (not quite the quality of Lost, House, Jericho, The Wire, etc but more of a guilty pleasure like my other fave, Saved by the Bell). But like an above post mentioned, I too refuse to watch after missing a show. I missed it during the Lost season premier. By the time I realized the recap was A WHOLE DAMN HOUR, it was too late to turn to Smallville. And since the CW is like the only channel in the world that doesn't put its shows on the net to watch like every other channel, I'm going to have to wait for the reruns to start, or like I did this year, wait for the DVD.

On the plus side, this season is 20 episodes. Eat that other shows!
For me one reason why Smallville's a little on the cheap as of late (besides CW having no money) is because it is such a machine. The cast and crew's been doing this since 2001 and right now the machine is on autorun. There's less having to prove themselves that other shows have. Also, their main director James Marshall is kinda lazy now (IMO). However, because it is a machine we're getting more episodes this season than other shows. They had 15 scripts written before the strike! 15!! Honestly, none of them feel rushed. Flawed in places, but not horrible or worse than usual. Way to go Smallville; support the MACHINE!
Off the director, James Marshall may be no Greg Beeman or Jack Bender, but a lot of the crew and cast have been stepping up to the director's chair and their work is among the best on the show. The new directors have something to prove so I'm always looking forward to their episodes. One of the best episodes this season was "Action" almost purely because the directing was so well done.
Edit: I mistakenly said "Hero" before, I meant "Action". It has been corrected.

Do you know if there is anyplace that has the episodes? The last one I got to watch was Blue. I hate waiting to get caught up. Like I said before, it angers me to no end that the CW is like one of the only channels that doesn't offer online episodes.

Another hiatus, another Smallville post.
We've had a plethora of news lately. Lex is gone, no news of a return. His fate is ambiguous from the finale. He is instead being replaced with a woman and DOOMSDAY!
DAVIS BLOOME: 26, Charming and handsome. Davis is the new bartender at
the hip Metropolis lounge. Ace of Clubs, where he plays down his smoldering good looks with a self-effacing wit and down-to-earth soulfulness. Despite the ease with which Davis relates to his new
friends, he carries with him the long-felt feelings of a perpetual outsider. Beneath Davis' charismatic, easy going demeanor lies a brooding sense of isolation and insecurity.. When he begins to delve into the haunting mysteries of his true origins, a darker truth begins to emerge, one of blood and serial murders, one of survival and utter destruction--one in which he is forced to confront the true evil inside of him...SERIES REGULAR
Already sounds like a better origin than the comics IMO.
Laura Vandervoort is out. However Clark, Lois, Jimmy and Chloe are returning. Since this is the last year a Clark-Lois-Jimmy team is the most desired. Since Chloe's my favorite character I was ecstatic to hear she was returning for every episode. Lana is gone but not for good. She might be back for a few episodes... Boo.
However, the two executive producers and creators of the show have left thus promoting FOUR staff writers to be the new showrunners. This better mean the: No tights, no flight rule is OUT!
Martian Manhunter might actually not return... which I think is bull! Brainiac might return though as well as Green Arrow.
The Bat Embargo continues however.

I know Kristin Kreuk and Michael Rosembaum and definitely out. So now Kristin fix for me every Thursday Kristin will be in a handful of episodes for season 8.
There was talk of Allison not returning, I guess she's going to be there after all.
It's hard to imagine this show without Lex Luthor. James Marsters plays a good villain in Brainiac and, to me, is the best replacement they've got.
Currently, the writing sucks. It's sucked for a few seasons now. Maybe this is why the actors are jumping ship since they finally can now that their contracts are finally up.

Allison was negotiating a pay raise and well deserved too IMO.
Here's the thing, the episodes after the strike were AWESOME. The show usually has a good start and then slumps and then gets good again. The strike happened right in the slump so when it returned it was like a bolt of energy revived it again. I think the only subpar episode during the last five episodes was the one before the finale where they had to resolve Lex's quest/storyline. That was mostly dealing with the convolutions they came up with earlier in the season.
The actors are jumping ship because the show is on its EIGHTH season! They've been on this show since 2001. That's a really long time and their prime years are almost over. Welling wants to pull a Ron Howard so I know acting isn't that big a deal for him, but Rosenbaum is perhaps the most talented actor of the cast. While his movies are usually shitty comedies and horror films, I would love to see what else he'll do. God bless him.
As for the writing, here's my thoughts: The best writer the show had was Jeph Loeb. I'm not being a fanboy saying that, it was just a fact. But we all know why he left. He continues to kick ass on "Heroes" though. Their second best writers were the creators Gough and Millar, but they haven't written an episode since season three! They've just been overseeing the show. Now they've left. Their third best writer was Steven S. DeKnight who single handedly saved the show last season. However, he ended up writing like 10 episodes last season too, exhausting for most writers. I understand why he left before this season.
That really only leaves Caroline Dries who is currently the best writer on the show IMO. James Marshall is still an executive producer, but he only directed one episode this season. He's as good as gone too - so their lead director is gone. This leaves Mairzee Almas who I believe should replace him as lead director... But no one will let her.
Yeah, a lot of creative talent left the show. The other thing is the show is in its last season so the crew they have they're stuck with. They won't add new blood now. That rarely happens... The one time new blood in a final season that made a BIG difference was Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) on Buffy's last year. But Drew Goddard is a genius and a huge fan of Buffy. Usually writers like that will avoid a show that doesn't have a chance to go on and on and on. Smallville has run that course and now is the time for its final lap!

I actually hope the no tights rule sticks. Otherwise, I hope its slightly modified because I don't really think the current (any of the previously used) style works for a show like this. I'd like to see something up to par with the gear that the rest of the Justice League was sporting.
I do, however, want to see him fly by the end of the series. Even if its the last scene of the last show.
I had always wished they would lift the Bat Embargo. Since they kind of combined Green Arrow and Batman to make Queen's character on the show, I guess it wasn't necessary I guess. But I wouldn't have minded seeing another member show up. But this late in the game, its not really necessary. But I would like to see the Justice League one more time, including Martian Manhunter and Black Canary. I would like to see Hal Jordan and Diana Prince, even if it were for just long enough for Queen to introduce Clark to the new recruits. But I won't hold my breath, and I was thinking that they weren't allowed to touch Wonder Woman's character either.
Anyways, I thought the finale was pretty good. I just watched it last night. So after seeing the Lost finale the night before, I didn't know how it would hold up. But I thought they did a good job.

If Lex doesn't show up again, I'll be pissed. While I know he'll be back, ever so often I get the feeling Ego is going to win this round... -_-

What I really wish they would do is make the upcoming final season really really dark. I want people to die. I want thing to get really grim. I hope it makes him really question himself (not that he doesn't do that all the time anyways). At the end, I want him to be forced to save the world (not just Smallville, Metropolis, or his family/friends). Make it where he realizes if he doesn't concede to his calling that mankind will not survive, almost forcing him to accept his destiny.

My thoughts on season 8:
The writers of Mummy 3 are gone... They weren't really doing anything since the fifth season so okay.
I believe 100% Clark will fly this season.
I'm most looking forward for the Chloe/Clark shipping episode.
If they deliver what they promise about transitioning characters to their well known state, I'll be super happy.
Green Arrow is back as a regular character, super yay! (correction, for the first time he's a regular.)
I want Lex back, I want Kara back... we'll get news about both come December. Lana's return is a November sweeps stunt.

So when the character's make that transition, where does that leave Chloe? Personally, since the character was created solely for this show, I think they should either say the hell with it and end it with her as an unofficial member of the Justice League, sort of how they had her be previously, or kill her off to explain why we've never seen her before (in the comics).
But there needs to be some sort of twist to kind of explain and tie her in with the official story.

I hear there is one, but don't expect it until the finale. Allison Mack is contracted to appear in all 22 episodes of the season.
Okay, that doesn't mean shit, but I hope that means she has death immunity until the finale.

I'm wrong, Manny Coto saved Enterprise its last season. Sorry for the oversight, I didn't watch Enterprise.

Personally, if I had my way, there would be a Justice League spin off and she could be a regular.

A lot of fans want a JL spinoff, but I know WBs has final say over that and they want a JL movie. WB also isn't as smart (or rather dumb) as FOX that has one continuity of Terminator on TV while another in theaters by a different studio. Plus, Justin Hartley really does want to be known for something other than soap operas and Green Arrow (especially when he won't get the movie deal).

I can see where they are coming from, but it still chaps my ass because I think you can do so much more with a series than with a movie. If they make all the movies then slap them together to make the JL movie, it'll take years before we finally get it. If they make the movies dark it should still be pretty bad ass. But if the movie ends up being garbage and I could have had my spinoff instead, I'll be pissed.
I guess I just think with so many different characters, you can get more out of a series. Plus I think JL on Smallville had so much potential for some good stories. I actually liked the characters. They were believable (by Smallville standards). I would love to see more from them, though not at the show's expense. So a spinoff would have been perfect.

Chloe is the only character that grew on me when i watched the series so i hope she doesn't get killed off. Okay, and i know Ghandi will want to go Dhalsim on me for saying this, but in smallville, i think Allison Mack is hotter then Kristin Kreuk, a hot nerd is a rare species to find and it makes her that much more appealing. Also, how many times have they seemed to have killed her off but then are like "Surprise!" . . . 2 . . . 3?

I also love her random pop culture referencing one-liners. For whatever reason, that has a lot of appeal to me. She isn't amazing or anything. But she is pretty hot. That combined with all the other stuff makes Chloe a better total package than Lana, IMO. I actually think Kara is the hottest one.
Also, Erica Durance's tits >>> the other girls put together.
EDIT: I wanted to add something. I was watching disc 2 of season 1 last night. It's a little frustrating that Chloe doesn't know about Clarks powers yet. I'm so used to her being in the know and a sidekick of sorts, that its hard to go back before then.

Damn right it is. Thank God for season 4... And by season 4, I mean season 5. I really hate how this show stalls... But it got 8 seasons out of it, so yay.

I did love it back when Lex and Clark were friends. They were best friends, but were always aware of each other, if that makes any sense. Its like they would do anything for each other, but always remained skeptical.

Erica's breasts are fake but they're still nice to look at. Look for a clip of her from "House of the Dead".
Kristin Kreuk's still my girl. I post on a Smallville board, so yall are pretty polite compared to how some of them can be :p
For me, the best season of the show was season 3, then 2, then 4. After that I'm not really particular. It's cool watching all the actors grow up. The older seasons seemed and still seem much better than the newer ones. At that time they were actually driving toward a point they wanted to end the season on.
