#98: The Death And Return Of Superman

      An unstoppable new supervillain, Doomsday, has suddenly risen from center the Earth and it's up to Superman to try and stop him. When both hero and foe are killed in the struggle, three new heroes arise, each claiming to be Superman: The Cyborg, Superboy, and The Eradicator. You will get to play as all three of them, as well as Steel, an armored crimefighter who wants to carry on Superman's legacy. But when The Cyborg destroys Coast City and reveals his true intentions, will the new heroes have what it takes to stop him? Or will it require the return of the REAL Superman? Based on the popular comics by DC.

Syd Lexia: Fat sweaty YouTube video game critics love to pick on Superman's video games, and there are two reasons for this. The first reason is that most of these games are genuinely terrible. The second reason is that is that none of the games "capture the spirit of the character". What these morons fail to realize is that a game that captured the spirit of Superman would be boring as fucking hell. Here's what a real Superman game would be like: you'd fly around beating up everyone and not taking any damage, then Lex Luthor would show up with a shitload of Green Kryptonite and you'd be completely fucked. The End. Does that sound like a fun game? No, it doesn't. The Death And Return of Superman, on the other hand, is damn fun. It's a highly competent beat 'em up that manages to do justice to one of the few interesting Superman storylines.

Valdronius: This game is made by Blizzard, so it can't be all that bad right? Well, I'll give it points for having 5 characters, and for the really cool ability to pick up enemies and throw them into the fences and glass doors in the background, causing them to shatter. This game fails as a beat 'em up, however, because if you're fighting on the roof of a building and you throw the enemy off, they just climb back up a second later. Also, you can only hit one enemy at a time, so if there are two in front you, one gets a beating while the other has free reign to kill you.
