Released In: 1989 Mega Man returns and so does Dr. Wily. This time, Mega Man must beat Metalman, Bubbleman, Woodman, Quickman, Heatman, Flashman, Airman, and Crashman before heading to Wily's castle to fight the insane scientist in his haunted planetarium. This game features major aesthetic changes to the power-ups from the previous game as well as the introduction of every amateur Mega Man player's favorite item: the energy tank. It also has a password system, so you don't have to beat the game in one sitting. Syd Lexia: This game was way better than the original in terms of level design, music, and enemy variety, all three of which contribute its huge replayability. I couldn't beat Heatman's level without Item-2, but then again, I was afraid to try. I also used to get my ass handed to me by the Mechanical Dragon because I was too concerned with the bottomless pit below me to concentrate on fighting him. After many frustrating defeats, I finally grew a pair of balls and made that fucking dragon my bitch. Valdronius: Mega Man 2 is my favorite NES game of all time, bar none. I thought it was general consensus that it was the best title in the series, but apparently I thought wrong. It has memorable characters, solid play control, and a great soundtrack. The American version of the game had an easy setting, because the Japanese thought that the default setting would be too difficult for Western gamers. Whatever. The sheer awesomeness of this game cannot be described in words. I command you to go and play it now. greeneyedzeke: Part 2 of the Mega Man series holds a special place in my heart, namely because I spent hours upon hours of my pre-pubescent life trying to beat it. Oh, yeah, and because it had awesome music and, for the time, graphics. Capcom could make the NES do things that defied logic. |
