What started off as a promising if not falsely advertised look at computer games has officially gone to shit. On this two page spread, we are given parodies of forgettable titles like Reader Rabbit and Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer, poorly executed Sierra jokes, and a take on Chessmaster 2000 that looks suspiciously like Battle Chess. The Sierra parodies reek of a laziness that suggest the writer's knowledge of King's Quest and Leisure Suit Larry don't extend much further than the time he spent reading the back of the game boxes at Nobody Beats The Wiz. Paternity Suit Larry plays off the fact that its source material was an adult-oriented game, but it ignores the fact that Larry was a perennial loser who usually had to embark on needlessly complicated adventures in order to find one woman who was willing to have sex with him, let alone multiple. The idea that Larry Laffer would ever find himself in a situation with an army of babies and case workers chasing after him is, well, laughable. As for King's Digest XIV: Perils of Mozzarella, the only thing it has in common with King's Quest IV is that Mozzarella rhymes with Rosella. But I think the biggest clue that this computer game parody sucks is that it features two flight simulators; no one gives a shit about those things. The only funny thing on this page is George Steinbrenner Baseball... making fun of that crazy old bastard is always good for a laugh, no matter how cheap.
