On Page 14, we find Spy vs. Spy, one of MAD's most beloved features due to its quirky art style and fantastic slapstick violence. There was a time when I loved Spy vs. Spy, but that time has long since passed. Spy vs. Spy is a lot like Garfield, you wake up one morning, realize every single comic is fundamentally the same, and move on with your life. That's not to say that Spy vs. Spy is somehow devoid of value; I believe that is a highly important piece of pop culture and that everyone should be exposed to it. It is entertaining in a way, but it's not exactly funny. Spy vs. Spy is also notable for its important underlying message: there can be no winners in a cold war, only losers. Except America, cuz we totally won.

Oh, I almost forgot. Since this issue of MAD has Nintendo on the cover, maybe I should bring up the Spy vs. Spy NES game. It was a mediocre game that could have been great if the levels weren't so damned innavigable due to the fact that every fucking room looked the same. Still, the two player deathmatch was pretty awesome.
