I was thinking about how when we listen to a classic rock radio channel or whatever and we hear bands from the 70's. All these bands are pretty much all considered great. I honestly love a lot of classic rock, but there's a couple of bands i'm really not to fond of.
1.Aerosmith- I dunno, I don't mind many of their songs, but I can't listen to more than like 3 in a row.
2.Kiss-I kind of think of them as a gimmick band who really never made any music to gorundbreaking. They spawned things Slipknot, ICP, and GWAR (but I kind of like GWAR for some reason)
3.George Thorogood- I don't really have a good reason not to like him and I understand why people do, but I just don't really like his music.

I agree.
Also, outside of some classic tracks, I could never really get into the Rolling Stones...I tried.

Because GWAR kicks ass.
As for the topic itself, I'll say Pink Floyd. Yes, they were vastly influential, but they always bored the hell out of me. And while I wouldn't go as far as to say I dislike them, I don't enjoy KISS as much as I used to. Also, again, while I don't dislike them, I never really enjoyed The Who, The Doors, or the Rolling Stones, certainly not to the degree that I enjoy Rush, Thin Lizzy, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc.

The Doors and Aerosmith.
I'll never forgive the latter for a horrendous MTV half-time show which was a desperate attempt to be seen as still "relevant."

Plenty, but then again I'm very picky when it comes to music.
I can't think of any "classic" bands I like.

Beatles. Though I respect them for their utmost relevance, I'm not that fond of their music.
I also don't like Genesis, most of the Woodstock generation music (like Janis Joplin and Jefferson Airplane) and KISS.

Lynyrd Skynyrd. Their music is alright however the local rock station DJs and most of the general populace love that band a little too much. It sound stereotypical, but it's true. Their music was actually pretty good and I liked their style, however I've heard enough Skynyrd for one lifetime. All of their songs have been overplayed so much around here. The sad thing is that the only time that the rock station doesn't play Skynyrd they play AC/DC. They are both good bands, but damn...I can only hear the same bands play the same songs so many times before I get burnt out. The only decent time to listen to classic rock is whenever "Late Nights with Alice Cooper" is on. He plays some decent stuff usually. That's a bit extreme though. They are both good bands, I just don't care for them because they are so overplayed around here.

While this is not a part of the formal definition of classic rock, I believe that a band must no longer be putting out music before they can be classified as a classic rock band. This doesn't mean that they can't have classic rock songs. Identifying the two separately is important because some bands play for several decades and have music in multiple genres.
Aerosmith has had two albums released this decade with the promise of a third to come. The majority of their albums may be classic, but the band itself is not. I would argue the same is true for the Rolling Stones.
I don't really have a strong distaste for most classic rock though as time goes on and I find myself getting older, the music I used to consider just "hard rock" is now classified as classic.
When Nickelback tunes become classic rock I'll begin to bitch about the genre.

I feel the same way about Skynyrd, I like them but they are overplayed. I don't even live in the South either, i'm guessing thats where you live if all they play is Skynyrd and AC/DC. Another one I was thinking of is Jethro Tull. not really to big a fan of that flute.
And GP, don't you dare talk about the apocalypse.

I always thought "classic rock" was exclusive to the 60's and 70's.

Lynyrd Skynyrd, most bluesy Rolling Stones songs, most bluesy Led Zeppelin songs, Bruce Springsteen, some AC/DC, Elvis (not really classic rock, I suppose, but it has to be mentioned), some KISS, cheesy, early Beatles songs, most Hendrix gets old to me after a while due to pentatonic blunt trauma, most of The Who, George Thoroughbad or anything as straight blues as he is, some Motley Crue, Quiet Riot, most Twisted Sister, Def Leppard, some ZZ Top, and that's all I can think of right now.

Yes, Aerosmith (outside of "Walk This Way"), Beatles pre- "Sgt. Pepper".
Never got Lynyrd Skynyrd either. I thought they were only liked by rednecks.

To an extent, 80's I believe can be defined as classic rock.
But hell, the classic rock station around me will occasionally play shit like Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana.

Yeah, they play Nirvana and Pearl Jam on the local classic rock station, which pisses me off. And when they play the kinda rarer cuts by bands, they play them over and over.
Remaining on topic, Bruce Springsteen. Fucking hate him. I think it might be the production above all else that makes his potentially alright songs sound hollow. And U2. They can die.

EPIC FAIL. Why not just throw Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath on there too? I'm thinking you just don't like classic rock in general, if you don't like four of its most important acts.
I'll second U2, with a caveat: some of their earlier stuff like "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "Mysterious Ways" are cool.
