While this show is slower than a vampire growing white hair, tonight's episode was especially bad. I might be making fun of it in the near future.

The show is slow, but I like it for its Southern Gothic atmosphere. And by 'Southern Gothic atmosphere' I mean Anna Paquin in denim hot pants.

I missed last night's episode, but I'm having trouble getting into it. Just too goddamn slow, though the sex is pretty nice and the girls are looking gooooood.
Who cares either way? Dexter started last night!

And by hot pants you mean shirts that aren't her size or feature off her bra?

So I saw tonight's episode. I actually didn't mind it, but the show is slow as fuck.

Anna Paquin breasts produced no arousal Am I gay, or does her character get on my nerves so much that there is no chance of sexual attraction? I choose the latter.

Hey, those tits are carrying the show; if it hadn't already been renewed after the first two episodes, her tits would have sealed the deal by now.
But to be fair the show has really gained traction with last night's episode. Let's hope they keep that up.

I just started watching it today. I saw episodes 1 & 2.
I have them on HBO OnDemand and will hopefully be caught up by next weekend.
It is slow, but I enjoy it so far.
An interesting take on the vampire legends.

Wait, there's a plot?
I thought it was just an excuse to see Rogue's breasts.

I should have expected that Anna Paquin would be known as Rogue on this forum.
Why not Polexia Aphrodisia, Flora McGrath, or Claire Spence?

When Sam transformed in front of her for the first time she should have said "You're A Man Now, Dog!" instead of "Shut the fuck up".

That would have made me laugh pretty damn hard.
Why didn't she ever hear him thinking about it? I know she works to block it out... but really? How did she never know about shape shifters if she can read their minds.
And sadly, I called that he was a shape shifter in episode 1 the first time I saw the dog. I caught that there were two dogs when he was petting the dog for the first time.
So as far as trying to figure out who the killer is... I'm still hung up between a few people.
I'm thinking it might be Detective Bellefleur, Hoyte, or maybe the guy back from Iraq.
I am sad to see Stephen Root go.

I too am sad about Stephen Root's departure. But by killing Eddie Amy finally showed her true colors and she's now close to replacing Tara as my favorite character on the show. I always thought that there was something inherently evil and despotic about those kinds of ultra-moral vegan yuppies and Lizzy Caplan portraits that wonderfully. I was cracking up when she was mistreating Eddie and then screamed at him "Don’t you get morally superior on me! I’m an organic vegan, and my carbon footprint is minuscule!"

I am definitely hoping that she gets turned. I think it would be fantastic if Eric is the one to do it and then he puts a silver bag over her head and locks her in a coffin for 5 years.
I'm still trying to figure Eric out. He seems calm, somewhat evil, but he doesn't seem to desire destruction. I don't know... he keeps contradicting what I think he will do. Though ultimately his actions are never a contradiction of his overall character. If that makes any sense.

Wasn't the finale. And yes, that looked like Rene. That's pretty fucked up. Guarantee that it turns out he wasn't on a date with his wife that night.

Funny that my next post on this topic over half a year later would also be about Jessica.
For those of you who watch (if any are left) I felt so bad for this chick last night.
A virgin for all time. As a guy this would be awesome and yet meaningless since there is no physical difference. As a woman, oh man... this would suck so badly.

it is weird seeing Anna Paquin or Madeline Zima(youngest daughter from The Nanny) be on shows like True Blood or Californication showing their boobs and being sexual.
Its like they had a wholesome image but somehow manage to escape it

This show doesn't look interesting to me...just the whole vampire thing, unless they do it well with this show. After the release of Twilight, I just can't get into vampire shows.

The premise of the show:
Vampires are now out of the closet due to synthetic blood being available in the retail form of "True Blood" drink. Prior to this they were just the boogie man with no actual proof of their existence.
Season one and two had a few slow moments where character development was overdrawn, however with rare exception this show has some of the best cliffhanging moments a person could want in a weekly program.
Vampires in True Blood:
- Die in the sun
- Die if you stake them through the heart with wood
- Can glamor people
- Are subject to the rule where age dictates power
- Cry blood
- Have incredible strength and speed
- Retain the body that they had when they died and were "born" a vampire. They cannot alter their physique once changed.
- Are burned by silver
- Are in general a hell of a lot more ruthless than anything Twilight could ever dream of. Of course, Bill is the exception... and possibly (we don't really know everything yet... Godric).
- Do not fucking sparkle
- Must sleep during the day even if out of the sun or they weaken themselves.
