This is a *list *of songs I would consider doing if I ever got to play an MTV Unplugged set. I'd pick one, but I'd have to do so at the start:

Good topic. I'd be playing lead bass on my good ol' Dean Acoustic.
Foo Fighters-Generator (with me playing the lead guitar line on my bass)
Foo Fighters-New Way Home/Up in Arms (playing the solo on my bass)
Brad Paisley-Letter to Me
Derek and the Dominoes-Layla (With me playing the lead lick on bass)
Lynyrd Skynyrd-Simple Man
Down-Stone the Crow
Red Hot Chili Peppers-Under the Bridge
Rush-Limelight
Stevie Ray Vaughan-Texas Flood
The outro to Pantera-Floods, dedicated to Dime, played on bass.
My own composition on Acoustic Bass, dedicated to whomever I was dating at the time.
Metallica-Orion, dedicated to Cliff Burton

It'd be a long show, but I don't give a damn. All those songs mean the world to me, and to perform them acoustically would be awesome.

Though it should be noted that I hate MTV, and would probably refuse to appear on the network, and just film it independently for a DVD, or something.

I've thought about this long and hard, many times. I'd use this set for acoustic shows, and actually I sometimes play this set just when I'm up in my room bored.

I don't dig on acoustic versions really. There is a reason the artist made it electric. This makes me think. I should make a topic on acoustic songs you would chose to do "plugged". I would do Blackbird by the Beatles, and would have a 4 minute shred interlude with special guest, thomas haake on drums. We would rework the time signatures a bit, and it would rule.

I think if I did a set it would likely end up rather depressing. Think Johnny Cash perfoming Hurt. One of my friends (who can play almost anything I can ask him to) used to do a lot of accoustic sets. Now he is in 3 bands, so he doesn't go solo a lot anymore. He would throw a lot of country in when he did it. I'm not sure what I would do (have to think about it a little more), but here is some of the stuff he used to do for his accoustic sets.

Amanda - Waylon Jennings
Seven Spanish Angels - Ray Charles/Willie Nelson
Feed Jake - Pirates of the Mississippi
The Heart That You Own - Dwight Yoakam
Thinking About Leaving - Dwight Yoakam
Dead or Alive - Bon Jovi
Magic Carpet Ride/Ice Ice Baby - Steppenwolf/Vanilla Ice
Dust in the Wind - Kansas
Boys of Summer - Don Henley
Hungry Eyes - Eric Carmen
Freshman - Verve Pipe
Free Fallin' - Tom Petty
Simple Man - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Has 'Dust In The Wind' ever been done on an Unplugged? If not, then I pick that ftw. Free Ballin' by Petty would be funny, at least that's what I'd call and do it as.
